The purpose of this paper is to introduce new lyric works by Jikam ChoTaehwan (1772-1836) and conduct a literary review. 『JikamYeongeon(直菴永言)』 is a collection of poems by Jikam ChoTaehwan, published in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, and compiled in 1826. It contains not only Jikam's sijo but also the response sijo and lyric works of LeeSeokbin and JangDeokyu, with whom he interacted. Among them, this paper reviewed the two gasa works included in the very first part of the Sijo collection. and included in 『JikamYeongeon』 are didactic lyrics of the ‘Oryun(五倫)’ lineage created by Jikam JoTaehwan. Although the two works show common aspects, there are some differences in details. First, the two gasa works have in common that the author himself becomes the narrator, and the story is developed focusing on the family, rather than rural society. The content focuses on actual problems within the family or family and emphasizes the aspect of solidarity. In addition, although it deals with the ‘Five Rings’ as its main content, it has something in common in that it omits all content about ‘the relationship between military and god.’ The difference between the works is that in terms of volume, has a certain amount of each item of the five principles, whereas has an inconsistent amount of each item presented. As a result, is more systematic in terms of completeness. In particular, cons idering the prologue to 『Jikamyeongeon』 and the contents of , it can be assumed that and were created at different times. appears to have been written in Ji kam's middle years, and appears to have been written in hi s later years. At the headquarters, takes the form of the bas ic five principles excluding the ‘relationship between military and god’, but has additional contents about ‘female sex’, ‘wealth’, and ‘rights and wrongs debate’. Considering this fact, and were created as separate works, but the two lyrics are understood to hav e an organic composition. In other words, it is believed that Jikam created first, and later, when he created , he minim ized the abstract virtues that had previously been dealt with and emphasized mo re practical content that reflected the social situation at the time. The excavation of 『JikamYeongeon』 has great significance as a local literature of Asan, South Chungcheong Province, and furthermore, in the history of the city. This is a valuable work that allows us to take a closer look at regional literary activities and consciousness through the works included not only by Jikam, but also by LeeSeokbin and JangDeokyu, who interacted together in the Asan region.

본고는 직암(直菴) 조태환(趙台煥, 1772~1836)의 새로운 가사 작품을 소 개하고 문예적 검토를 하는 데 목적이 있다. 『직암영언(直菴永言)』은 충남 아산에서 나온 1826년에 편찬된 직암 조태환의 시조집이다. 여기에는 직암 의 시조뿐 아니라 함께 교유했던 이석빈, 장덕유의 화답 시조, 가사 작품이 수록되어 있다. 그중 본고는 시조집 가장 앞부분에 실려 있는 가사 2편의 작품을 중심으로 검토하였다. 『직암영언』에 수록된 <죽계별곡>과 <연산별곡>은 직암 조태환이 창작 한 ‘오륜’ 계통의 교훈가사이다. 두 작품은 공통적인 면모를 보이면서도 세 부적인 면에서는 다소 차이점이 발견된다. 먼저 두 가사 작품은 공통적으로 작자 자신이 화자가 되어 향촌사회보다 가문 내부를 중심으로 전개되었다. 그 내용을 보면 실질적인 가문이나 가정 내의 문제에 초점을 맞추고 결속 의 측면을 강조하고 있다. 또한 ‘오륜’을 주 내용으로 다루고 있으면서도 ‘군신 관계’에 대한 내용이 모두 빠져있다는 공통점을 지닌다. 작품의 차이점은 분량에서 볼 때 <죽계별곡>은 오륜의 각 항목마다 일 정한 분량을 갖추고 있는 반면에 <연산별곡>은 제시된 각 항목의 분량이 일정치 않다는 것이다. 그렇다 보니 완결성에 있어서도 <죽계별곡>이 좀 더 체계적이다. 특히 『직암영언』의 발문과 <연산별곡>의 내용으로 볼 때 <죽계별곡>과 <연산별곡>이 각각 다른 시기에 창작되었음을 추측해 볼 수 있다. 본사에서 <죽계별곡>은 ‘군신 관계’를 제외한 기본적인 오륜의 형태를 띠지만 <연산별곡>은 여기에 더해 ‘여색’, ‘재물’, ‘시비 논쟁’에 대 한 내용이 추가되었다. 이는 직암이 <죽계별곡>을 우선 창작해 놓고, 세월 이 흐른 뒤에 <연산별곡>을 창작하면서 기존에 다루어졌던 추상적인 덕목 들은 최소화하여 당시의 세태를 반영한 실질적인 내용을 더욱 부각한 것으 로 여겨진다.
