As an expression tool for stimulating and delivering various feelings of human, the color is grabbing attention as a subject of researches in various studies of modern society. As the importance of color that makes it possible to have multilateral experiences in daily life and industrial field is rising, the modern people naturally seek for the harmony of colors and also aim to develop their color sense and function, which is lead to great interest in color education. The color-related subjects that are currently handled as general/major course in universities are usually performed in the traditional participatory education method that does not include any opportunities of color idea and creative application, so it is necessary to have a new color education method. Thus, this study aimed to collect the basic data based on university students’ opinions and identified preferences for color education, in order to establish the foundation of color education method that could arouse more interest in learners. In the research method, a survey was conducted to present the importance and perception of color and color education targeting the university students who entered school in 2016~2020. The results of the survey are as follows. First, more than 80% of whole respondents showed the high importance of color education and color. Also, the color education was not only a tool to express oneself, but also a medium to create changes and fun in daily life, so they put the biggest meaning in a learning method to correctly express it. Second, the students who received the color education in the past showed the moderate satisfaction due to the absence of practice that could be applied to reality, utilization of color arrangement, academic explanation, acquisition of color theories, and active interest. Third, in the preference of color education method, they showed the biggest interest in digital-related practice, which might be the result of new educational paradigm facing the turning point by the COVID 19 and the current era focusing on digital industry. Thus, they thought there should be new approaches to color education using computer or digital tools after getting out of the traditional color education. The results of this study are based on the limited 100 respondents and would have some subjective judgment. However, it could be used as the basic data of researches on the composition of contents of each course according to the education method changed by the development of scientific technologies, and the use and importance of color.

색채는 인간의 다양한 감정을 자극하고 전달하는 표 현 도구로 현대사회에서 다양한 학문의 연구대상으로 주목받고 있다. 또한, 일상생활 및 산업 현장에서 인간 의 다각적 경험을 가능케 하는 색채의 중요성이 대두되 며 현대인들은 자연스럽게 색채의 조화를 탐하며 색의 기능과 감각을 키우고자 색채교육에 관한 관심도 높아 지고 있다. 현재 대학교의 교양 및 전공 교과목에서 다 루는 색채 관련 내용은 색채 발상과 창의적인 응용의 기회를 저버리는 전통적인 참여주의식 교육법에 치우쳐 새로운 색채교육 방식이 필요한 상황이다. 이에 본 연 구는 대학생이 가장 필요로 하고 학습자가 더욱 흥미를 느끼는 색채교육의 선호도를 파악하여 가장 효율적인 색채교육법의 토대를 마련하고자 대학생들의 의견을 바 탕으로 기초 자료를 수집하는 것에 목적을 두었다. 연 구 방법은 2020년도~2022년도에 입학한 대학생들을 대상으로 색채와 색채교육에 대한 중요도 및 인식 조사 를 위한 설문조사로 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 총응답 자의 80% 이상이 색채교육과 색에 대한 중요도가 높 다고 판단했다. 또한, 색채교육은 나 자신을 표현하는 도구이자 일상의 변화와 재미를 창조하는 매개체인 만 큼 이를 올바르게 표현하는 학습 방식이라는 것에 가장 큰 의미를 두었다. 둘째, 과거 색채교육에 경험이 있었 던 학생들은 실제 적용할 수 있는 실습, 배색의 활용, 학문적인 설명, 색채이론 습득, 적극적 흥미에 대한 부 재로 색채교육에 대해 중간 정도의 만족도를 보였다. 셋째, 색채교육방식 선호도에 대해서는 디지털 관련 실 습에 가장 많은 관심을 보였는데, 이는 디지털 산업과 코로나19로 인해 전환기를 맞이하고 있는 새로운 교육 패러다임에 기인한 결과라 할 수 있다. 따라서 현 색채 교육은 전통적인 교육방식을 벗어나 컴퓨터나 디지털 도구를 활용한 새로운 접근이 필요하다고 보았다. 본 연구의 결과가 100명이라는 제한적 응답자와 주관적인 판단이 존재할 수 있지만, 과학 기술 발전에 따른 교육 방식과 과목별 내용 구성 연구의 기초 자료로 활용되기 를 기대해 본다.
