The purpose of this study was to investigate how trends of skin color expression due to color vision deficiency appears in illustrations.. This study targets a female subject with red-green color vision deficiency and investigates the characteristics of skin color trends in her illustrations. Moreover her experiences with color vision deficiency and the illustration production process were investigated through additional interviews. L*, a*, and b* values were obtained by extracting color from the skin colors of the character expression shown in a total of 150 illustrations. The data was analyzed by dividing into genders, color materials and facial area differences. As a result significant differences were found in all conditions. Differences in skin colors due to genders and facial area could be seen as differences in perception and memory by the subject, however differences in skin color due to color materials resulted in confusion as subject had difficulty identifying the color. Comparing the results of previous studies with normal color vision subjects, it was confirmed that the skin color tolerance range of subjects with red-green color deficiency was very wide. Through the interview, it was clearly confirmed that the subject was not aware having color vision deficiency. By confirming information about his ancestry, it was also clear that color vision deficiency was inherited. Therefore, it was also found that the subjects resolved confusing color identification by selecting colors based on color names in the process of creating illustrations. Through the results of this study, it can be confirmed the usefulness of establishing guidelines for color use using color names for people with color vision impairment.

본 연구는 색각이상에 의한 피부색 표현의 경향이 일러스트레이션에서 어떻게 나타나는지를 알아보는 것 을 목적으로 하였다. 적록색약을 가진 여성 피험자를 대상으로 하여 그가 제작한 일러스트레이션에 나타난 피부색 표현의 특성을 알아보고, 추가 인터뷰를 통해 색각이상에 관한 경험과 일러스트레이션 제작과정에 관 해 조사한다. 총 150장의 일러스트레이션에 나타난 인 물 표현의 피부색에서 색을 추출하여서 L*, a*, b* 값 을 구하였다. 그 결과를 성별의 차이, 색 재료의 차이, 얼굴 부위의 차이로 나누어 분석한 결과, 모든 조건에 서 유의차가 나타났다. 성별과 얼굴 부위에 의한 피부 색 차이는 피험자에 의한 지각 및 기억의 차이로 볼 수 있었으나 색 재료에 의한 피부색 차이는 색 식별이 어려워 혼란스러워하는 결과를 나타낸다고 추정할 수 있었다. 정상색각자에 의한 선행연구 결과와 비교한 결 과, 적록색약의 피험자에 의한 피부색 허용범위가 매우 넓게 나타난 것이 확인되었다. 추가적으로 진행한 인터 뷰를 통해 피험자가 본인이 색각이상을 경험하고 있다 는 점을 인지하지 못한 점, 가계에 관한 내용을 확인한 결과, 색각이상이 유전된 점 또한 명확하게 확인할 수 있었다. 더불어 피험자가 일러스트레이션을 제작하는 과정에서 색이름에 의존하여 색을 선택하여 혼란스러운 색 식별을 해결하고 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과를 통해, 색각이상자를 위해 색이름을 활용한 색 사용의 가이드라인 구축의 유용성을 확인할 수 있었다.
