Due to the increased remote interactions caused by COVID-19, the fashion industry has witnessed accelerated digital innovation, with virtual fashion gaining prominence. This research, initiated with an awareness of the current situation necessitating the exploration of themes in virtual fashion design and practical design development, aims to provide a case study for the discovery and application of sources of inspiration in virtual fashion design. To achieve this goal, we conducted an analysis of literature and applied materials from various fields such as physics and musicology. We researched the concept of cymatics, the current state of virtual fashion design, and methods of design expression. By analyzing the characteristics of cymatics patterns, which create geometric shapes based on the principles of visualizing sound, we created a collection of virtual fashion design videos using cymatics patterns as a central theme. For the design and production of these works, we used 3D modeling software such as CLO and Blender, as well as After Effects for textile graphic animation and video editing. The results obtained from this design research underscore the utility of virtual fashion design testing concepts rooted in physical principles or those challenging to be produced in reality, such as cymatics, as intriguing themes. Virtual fashion design serves as a tool for executing innovative thinking in the digital realm, surpassing the limitations of real-life fitting and enabling the expression of creativity. This study, which focuses on the creative expression of cymatics pattern motifs based on the elements and characteristics of virtual fashion, holds significance in demonstrating the expandable potential and innovative design possibilities of virtual fashion design.

코로나19로 인해 비대면 방식의 증대로 패션 업계의 디지털 혁신이 가속화되었으며 버추얼 패션이 주목받 고 있다. 급부상한 버추얼 패션디자인에 대한 테마 발굴과 실제적 디자인 개발이 필요한 현 상황의 인식으로 부터 시작된 이 연구는 사이매틱스 패턴 이미지의 디자인 콘셉트 적용을 시도함으로써 버추얼 패션디자인 영감의 원천 발굴 및 적용에 대한 한 가지 사례를 제시하며 버추얼 패션디자인의 실제적 활용 가능성을 고찰 하는 데에 목적을 두었다. 이를 위하여 물리학, 음악학 등의 문헌연구와 응용 자료들을 분석하였고 사이매틱 스의 개념, 버추얼 패션디자인 현황 및 디자인의 표현 방법을 연구하였다. 소리를 시각화하는 원리로서 기하 학적 형상을 만들어내는 사이매틱스 패턴의 특징을 사례 중심으로 분석하여 사이매틱스 패턴을 응용한 버추 얼 패션디자인 컬렉션 비디오를 제작하였다. 작품의 디자인 및 제작을 위해 3D 모델링 프로그램은 클로와 블렌더를, 텍스타일 그래픽 영상 제작과 비디오 편집 작업에는 애프터 이펙트를 이용하였다. 이 디자인 연구 를 통해 얻은 결과로서 사이매틱스와 같은 물리학적 원리나 현실적으로 제작하기 어려운 개념들이 버추얼 패션디자인을 통해 물리적 제약을 넘어 흥미를 유발하는 테마로 적용하기에 적합함을 확인하였다. 버추얼 패션디자인은 디지털 세계의 혁신적 사고를 자유롭게 실행할 수 있는 도구이며 물리적 착장의 한계를 넘어 창의성을 표출할 수 있는 방법이다. 버추얼 패션의 표현 요소와 특징에 기반을 두고 사이매틱스 패턴 모티프 의 조형적 창작 표현에 집중한 이 연구는 버추얼 패션디자인의 확장 가능성과 다양하고 혁신적인 디자인 가능성을 확인하였다는 점에서 의의를 갖는다.
