The purpose of this study was to analyze and reinterpret the meaning of sexual life experiences of newly elderly men, the baby boomer generation who were economically active, through phenomenological techniques. The research method involved conducting two in-depth interviews with seniors aged 60 to 62 living in Suncheon City and analyzing them through four steps of Giorgi's qualitative research method. As a result of this study, 18 meaning units, 6 sub-components, and 3 components were derived. The first component was the symbol of man. Sub-components were 'vital energy of life' and 'root of pride'. The second component was discharge. Desire sub-components were 'Sexual distance according to object' and 'Finding an emergency exit'. The third component was coexistence of desire and family. Sub-components were 'Dilemma between instinct and reason' and 'A future left alone'. Through this study, we are able to discover a new type of marital life through reinterpretation of sexual life experiences of new elderly men who show different behavior from existing elderly men in modern society where asexual consciousness of elderly people is prevalent. Newly aged men struggled between their instinct to pursue pleasure and maintain a 'well-functioning family', ultimately pursuing a coexistence that neither one could give up. It is expected that the driving force behind this choice is that the economic power of those who are still active in the field, rather than the retired elderly, is guaranteed.

본 연구의 목적은 왕성한 경제활동을 하고 있는 베이비부머 세대인 신 노인 남성을 대상으로 그들의 성 생활 경험 속에서 현상학적 기법을 통하여 분석하고 그 의미를 재해석하는 데 있다. 연구 방법은 순천시에 거주하는 60~62세의 노인을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰 2회를 실시하였고 지오르기(Giorgi) 질적 연구 방법의 4단계로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 18개의 의미 단위, 6개의 하위 구성요소, 3개의 구성요소가 도출되었으며, 그 구성요소는 첫째, 남자의 상징, 하위 구성요소는 ‘삶의 활력소’, ‘자존심의 뿌리’ 둘째, 배출의 욕구, 하위 구성요소 ‘대상에 따른 성적 거리감’, ‘비상구 찾기’ 셋째, 욕망과 가정의 공존, 하위 구성요소 ‘본능과 이성과의 딜레마’, ‘홀로 남겨진 미래’로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통하여 무성적 노인 의식이 팽배한 현대 사회에서 기존 노인과는 다른 행태를 보이는 신 노인 남성의 성생활 경험 재해석을 통해 새로운 형태의 부부생활 유형을 알 수 있었다. 신 노인 남성들은 쾌락 추구의 본능과 ‘반듯한 가정’ 유지 사이에서 갈등하면서 결국 어느 하나 포기할 수 없는 공존을 추구했다. 이러한 선택의 동인은 은퇴한 노인이 아닌 아직도 현장에서 활발하게 활동하는 경제력이 담보되기 때문인 것으로 예상된다.
