Purpose : This study aims to explore experience of students who participated in international clinical fieldwork program implemented by a professional academic society in South Korea.
Method : Three focus group interviews that incorporated naturalistic design were conducted with 13 occupational therapy students who participated in the international clinical fieldwork to US.
Result : The experiences of completing international clinical fieldwork were interpreted in terms of 1) challenges towards different cultural contexts, 2) struggling to be competent, and 3) opportunity to self-reflect as a professional.
Conclusion : The international clinical fieldwork provided a process of occupational adaptation for the students. Overall experiences including overcoming faced challenges allowed the students to grow as culturally competent professionals in occupational therapy, and also was an opportunity to discover their professional identities for the future.

목적 : 본 연구의 목적은 한국의 전문 학회에서 주최 한 해외 임상실습에 참여한 학생들의 경험을 알아보는 것이다.
방법 : 미국에서 하는 해외 임상 실습에 참여한 13명의 작업치료학과 학생들을 대상으로 자연적 연구 설계를 적용한 세개의 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 시행하였다.
결과 : 해외 임상 실습을 완수하는 경험은 다음과 같이 해석 되었다: 1) 다른 문화적 배경상황에 대한 도전, 2) 유능함을 위한 사투, 그리고 3) 전문가로서 자기 고찰을 할 수 있는 기회.
결론 : 해외 임상 실습은 학생들에게 작업적 적응의 과정을 제공하였다. 학생들이 마주한 도전을 극복하는 것을 포함한 전반적인 경험은 작업치료에서 문화적으로 유능한 전문가로 성장할 수 있게 하였고, 더해서 미래에 자신의 전문적 정체성을 발견할 수 있는 기회가 되었다.
