This historically evaluates to examine the desire for enlightenment, efforts, and achievements of single female missionaries Miss Elizabeth J. Shepping, and Korean female leaders. With nursing expertise as a medical missionary, she expanded her ministry to social reform projects such as establishing the Neel Bible School for women, organizing a nursing club and joining an international organization, and homeless aid. At the time, Korean women of Confucian Joseon and then Japanese occupation and the Western single female missionary in the atmosphere of the male-centered Presbyterian Church, both achieved much enlightenment outcomes. Her activities, which began in Honam, a poor area in Korea, expanded to the world through Seoul, and all of her achievements would have been impossible without the Korean women who accompanied her.
