This study examines the development trends of the design discipline in China based on an analysis of the CNKI master's thesis database from 2001 to 2023. The research reveals the main characteristics and trends of design master's theses in various types of Chinese universities, as well as the influence of national policies on research. The findings indicate that the selected topics of design master's theses reflect the developmental trajectory of the discipline, with phases of expansion and stable development. Different types of universities focus on different research directions, with comprehensive universities and science-technologyoriented institutions emphasizing applied design, while art institutions prioritize artistic creation. The study also highlights how national development strategies impact research topic selection for design master's theses, particularly in areas such as cultural creative design and regional revitalization. Additionally, it observes a trend towards collaborative development within disciplinary clusters rather than single disciplines. The "Four New" initiatives (new engineering disciplines, new humanities disciplines, new medical disciplines, and new agricultural sciences) are mentioned for their influence on the field. Ultimately, this study emphasizes that China's design discipline needs to transcend traditional paradigms rooted in fine arts education and enhance its capacity for interdisciplinary integration to adapt to societal changes and meet national policy requirements. The insights and recommendations provided by this study serve as valuable reference material for related fields and policy-making.

본 연구는 중국의 디자인 학문의 발전추세를 조사하기 위해 2001년부터 2023년까지 CNKI(중국 지식 네트워크) 석사 논문 데이터베이스를 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과는 다양 한 유형의 중국 대학에서 디자인 학문의 주요 발전 특징과 추세를 밝혀냈다. 연구 방향 은 국가 정책과 영향력에 크게 의존하며, 종합 대학과 공대계 대학은 응용 디자인에 초점을 맞추고 예술 계열 대학은 예술 창작 속성을 강조한다. 또한 국가 개발 전략은 문화 창조적 디자인 및 지역 활성화와 같은 분야에서 석사 논문 주제 선택에 큰 영향을 미친다. 본 연구는 단일 전공에서 전공 집단 공동 발전으로 변화하는 등 학문 발전의 추세도 확인하였다. “Four New” 이니셔티브(신공학, 신인문학, 신의료, 신농업)가 디자 인 분야에 영향을 미친다는 점도 언급되었다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 중국의 디자인 학 문이 예술 교육 패러다임에서 벗어나고 사회 상황 변화와 국가 정책 요구 사항에 적응 하기 위해 경계를 넘어서는 통합 개발 역량을 강화해야 한다고 강조한다. 이러한 결과 들은 중국 디자인 학문의 미래 발전에 대한 깊은 통찰력과 유용한 제언으로 다른 관련 분야와 정책 결정에 중요한 참고 자료로 활용될 수 있다.
