The purpose of this study was to identify the types of health crises experienced by 10 Koreans living in Hawaii during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to explore what strategies were used and what the process was like to derive meaningful results. to achieve this goal, this study applied the health belief model. as a result of the study, there are five types of health crises experienced by Koreans in Hawaii: physical health crisis (crisis due to the closure of health activity space, crisis due to the closure of health maintenance space), psychological health crisis (expression of loneliness, anxiety, depression, fear, anger and aggression due to isolation), social health crisis (disruption of interpersonal relationship, personal reputation crisis), family relations crisis, and economic crisis (losing job and subsidies). Second, crisis response strategies were largely denied, reduced, and rebuilt by integrating response strategies according to crisis types.

본 연구는 코로나팬데믹 시대의 하와이에 거주하고 있는 한인들이 경 험한 건강 위기유형을 파악하고, 이를 극복하는 과정에서 어떤 전략을 활용하였고 그 과정은 어떠했는지를 탐색하여 의미있는 결과를 도출하 고자 하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여, 이 연구는 2020년 에서 2022년 현재 하와이에 거주하고 있는 10명의 한인 들을 정보제공자로 선정하여 심층면접을 한 후, 개방코딩과 선택코딩을 통해 범주들간의 관계를 분석하여 팬데믹시대 하와이 한인이 경험하는 건강 위기유형과 위기대응 전략 모형을 건강신념모델을 적용하여 분석 하였다. 연구결과로 첫째, 하와이 한인이 경험하는 건강 위기의 유형은 신체적 건강의 의기(건강활동공간의 폐쇄로 인한 위기, 건강유지지공간 의 폐쇄로 인한 위기), 심리적 건강의 위기(고립으로 인한 외로움, 불안, 우울, 두려움, 분노와 공격성의 발현), 사회적 건강의 위기(대인관계의 단절, 개인 평판의 위기), 가족 관계적 위기, 경제적 위기(실직과 보조금 생활)의 5가지로 나타났다. 둘째, 위기대응전략은 위기 유형에 따른 대응 전략들을 통합하여 크게 부인하기, 축소하기, 재건하기의 세 가지로 나타났다.
