In this study, the author tried to define the addictive nature of webtoons by investigating the problem of over-dependence and addictive tendency in the use of webtoons that have increased since COVID-19. The researcher also investigated the status of the webtoon use, and studied the criteria and factors for diagnosing behavioral addiction to webtoon addiction. The study was conducted to prevent behavioral addiction in the use of webtoons and to present it as basic data for educational use in the field of church education through Christian approaches in the future. this study, webtoons were considered in the behavioral addiction approach. First, it was found that excessive dependence on webtoons was mainly related to smartphone dependence, Second, it was analyzed that it was related to the motivation for use. Third, the motivation for use is also related to the user's psychological state, such as reality escape and sensation pursuit, which was analyzed as a predictor of behavioral addiction of webtoons themselves. Media education seems realistically necessary in that the negative content of webtoons can negatively affect users and affect them more than external factors. Through this media literacy education, it was explained that it was necessary to accurately judge the problems that negative webtoons can cause teenagers, to train control or self-control in use, and to form an attitude that can critically evaluate the subject and content of webtoons. Just as previous media education has improved users' ability to judge, accept, or utilize events from a critical perspective through newspaper or news literacy education, it is necessary to increase their critical acceptance or ability to use webtoons.

본 연구에서는 코로나19이후 증가된 웹툰 이용에 있어서 과의존 및 중독적 경향에 관한 문제에 대해 조사하며, 웹툰에 대한 이해와 이용실태를 조사하고, 인터넷중독에 대한 행위 중독 진단 기준 및 요소를 연구하여 웹툰의 중독성에 관하여 정의하고자 하였다. 웹툰 이용에 있어서 행위중독을 예방하고 미래적으로는 기독교 접근을 통한 교회교육현장에서의 교육적 활용을 위한 기초자료로 제시하고자 연구하였다. 본 연구에서는 행위중독 접근에서 웹툰을 고찰하였는데 첫째, 웹툰에 대한 과의존 은 주로 스마트폰 과의존과 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났고, 둘째, 이용 동기와 관련이 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 이용 동기 또한 현실도피 및 감각추구 등의 이용자의 심리적 상태와 연관되어 있음으로 웹툰 자체가 가지는 행위중독의 예측요인으로 분석 되었다. 마지막으로, 웹툰의 폭력적이고 부정적인 내용이 이용자들에게 부정적인 영향 을 미칠 수 있다는 점에서 미디어교육이 현실적으로 필요함을 설명하였다. 웹툰의 부정적 내용이 이용자들에게 부정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있으며, 외부적인 요 인들 보다 더 영향을 줄 수 있다는 점에서 미디어교육이 현실적으로 필요해 보이는 것으로 설명할 수 있다. 부정적인 내용의 웹툰이 청소년에게 영향을 줄 수 있는 문제 점들을 정확히 판단하고, 미디어교육을 통해 웹툰이용에서 조절이나 자제의 행동을 훈련하는 것 뿐 아니라, 웹툰의 주제와 내용에 대하여 비판적인 시각을 통해 객관적 으로 평가할 수 있는 능력과 태도를 형성하는 것이 필요하다고 설명하였다. 기존에 진행되어진 신문 또는 뉴스 리터러시 교육을 통해 비판적 시각으로 사건을 판단하고 수용하여 활용 가능하도록 이용자들의 능력을 향상시킨 것과 같이 웹툰이용에 대한 합리적인 시각에서 비판적 수용 및 능력을 증진시킬 필요가 있다.
