A Relationship of Sustainable Supply Chain Management, Adoption of Blockchain Technology, and Enviroment Performance

Sustainable management, which began as a solution to environmental problems, has now become an essential business strategy rather than an option. However, the current competitive environment is not a business-to-business competition, but a supply-chain-to-supply-chain competition environment. Therefore sustainable management must be changed to sustainable supply chain management. This study is about sustainable supply chain management. Several studies have proposed blockchain as a technology to usefully carry out sustainable supply chain management. In this study, blockchain technology was seen as mediating the relationship between sustainable supply chain management and environmental performance. To prove this hypothesized relationship, a survey was conducted targeting Korean domestic manufacturing companies. The results of analysis based on the collected data are as follows. Among sustainable supply chain management practices, sustainable procurement, sustainable distribution, and sustainable design were found to have a positive influence on blockchain technology adoption. The adoption of blockchain technology has been shown to have a positive impact on environmental performance.
