Haenglimseowon, celebrating its founding a century ago in 2023, has made significant contribution in the Korean medicine through publishing of specialized books and journals. This article has detailed look at the policies of the late Lee Tae-ho (1897∼1963), the founder of Haenglimseowon and the process of expanding the growth of Haenglimseowon that has not been aggressive in the prior studies. In the records of the late Lee Tae-ho, this article touches on Jaseongdang Book Store, time of opening for Haenglimseowon, first address of Haenglimseowon, relationship with Park Heon-young, triggering point and time of his returning home, and process of business resuming of Haenglimseowon. Prior to establish Haenglimseowon, Lee Tae-ho started to work at Jaseongdang Book Store and later became the president of the publishing company, and around 1929, he opened his business under the name of Haenglimseowon. Thereafter, the business was suspended from the censorship issues before the liberation and reopened for business in 1947. And the business was suspended again due to the Korean War, but it opened again at a later day leading up to the present time. At first, Haenglimseowon mainly focused on medical documents, educational books and publication sales rather its own publishing works. Then, the business was expanded by publishing the medical publications of (Singjeung) Sinuihak Yogam (Annotation of New Medicine) and Collection of Entrance Examination of Questions and Answers and changed its name to Haenglimseowon. And while making the examination taking articles required for the Uisaeng (醫生) examination, Korean medicine Merchants (漢藥種商) trade test and so forth to significantly enhanced the company’s growth. Thereafter, Haenglimseowon has taken its strong ground as a publishing company specialized in Korean medicine through publication of traditional Korean medicine publications, such as, Hyangyakjipseongbang, Chimgugyeongheymbang and classics of Korean medicine like Bijanggopan Joseon’s Medical Writings.
