The purpose of this study is to summarize and present the flow of Confucianism created in Mujang(茂長) area, which was incorporated into a region of Gochang(高敞), Jeonbuk(全北), the topography according to it, and the characteristic aspects identified through it, paying attention to the studies on studying in Jeonbuk area. The Mujang area is now recognized as a part of Gochang-gun, but it was one of the key counties in the Jeonbuk coastal area until the reorganization of the administrative district in 1914., After the reorganization of the administrative district, Confucian intellectuals in the Mujang area continued to identify the characteristics of Mujang Confucianism through various arrangements on the Confucian tradition of the region. And one of these results can be called Songsayurimyeonwonrok(松沙儒林淵源錄). Songsayurimyeonwonrok presents several scholars who have been produced in the armed region as academic sources, then lists the literary figures who have been produced under them, and records their personal information, including their names, as well as their major achievements, etc. It is noteworthy in that it clearly summarizes the contents that can confirm the academic lineage of the armed region in detail. This book is not limited to a specific period, but provides a general look at the academic lineage of Mujang Confucian scholars, which lasted for more than 500 years from the early Joseon Dynasty to the first half of the 20th century. It can also be regarded as a meaningful data in that it can be verified. In this study, paying attention to these characteristic aspects of Songsayurimyeonwonrok, first, the background of publication of this work and the major achievements of the compiler were examined, and the academic lineage and activities of major Confucian scholars who were active in the military background were organized by period. I wanted to check that aspect. And based on this review, I tried to present the characteristic aspects of Confucianism in the Mujang area.

본고는 이제까지 제시된 전북 지역 유학에 관한 연구에 유의하여 전 북 고창의 한 지역으로 편입된 茂長지역에서 조성된 유학적 흐름과 이 에 따른 지형, 그리고 이를 통해 확인되는 특징적 면모를 정리하여 제시 하고자 한 것이다. 현재는 고창군의 한 부분으로 인식되고 있지만, 무장 지역은 1914년 행정구역 개편 이전까지 전북 해안 지역의 핵심적인 군 현 중 하나였고, 행정구역 개편 이후에도 무장 지역의 유학적 지식인들 은 지속해서 무장 지역의 유학 전통에 관한 다양한 정리 작업을 통해 무장 유학의 특징적 면모를 확인하고자 하였다. 그리고 이러한 결실 중 하나가 『松沙儒林淵源錄』이라 할 수 있다. 『송사유림연원록』은 무장 지역에서 배출된 여러 유현을 학문 연원 이 되는 학자를 제시한 후 그 문하에서 배출된 문인들을 나열하고, 이들 의 字와 號를 포함한 인적 사항은 물론, 주요 행적을 수록하는 등 무장 지역의 학맥을 구체적으로 확인할 수 있는 내용을 일목요연하게 정리하 였다는 점에서 주목할 만한 자료이다. 특정 시기에 한정하지 않고 조선 전기부터 20세기 전반기까지 근 5백 년 이상 이어져 온 무장 유현의 학 맥을 전체적으로 살필 수 있다는 점에서 무장 지역의 유학 사상의 흐름 이외에 학맥 분포 등 지역 유학의 특징적 면모도 확인할 수 있다는 점 에서 유의미한 자료라 할 수 있다. 본고에서는 『송사유림연원록』이 가지는 이러한 특징적 면모에 주 목하여 먼저 이 저작의 간행 경위와 편찬자의 주요 행적 등을 살피고, 무장을 지역적 배경으로 활동한 주요 유현의 학맥과 활동을 시기별로 정리하여 그 면모를 확인하고자 하였다. 그리고 이러한 검토를 기반으 로 무장 지역 유학의 특징적 면모를 제시하고자 하였다.
