In this paper, through the narrative of Midori in “Shojo Tsubaki,” I tried to analyze how the scenes of post􋹲war Japan are portrayed. Specifically, I focused on the representation of the bodies and everyday lives of the characters who become impaired throughout the war, in the framework of misemono. Furthermore, I tried to expand my analysis to how the narrative of Midori written by Maruo Suehiro acts as a platform for political discourse. To put it briefly, the implication of the stereotype of Midori would be a criticism on the victimhood nationalism of post 􋹲war Japan, and the continuous connection between Midori and national symbols of Japanese Empire is a derision for fascism, including imperialism and colonialism. Ultimately, through the aesthetics of satirical analogy and paradoxical depiction, “Shojo Tsubaki” achieves the representation of “Misemono􋹲rization of the Japanese Empire” or the “Misemono􋹲rization of the defeat.” This article aims to provide an opportunity to contemplate the reorganized world of post􋹲 colonial period Japan by the perspective of a post􋹲war generation author, within the context of today's memory space.

본고에서는 『쇼죠츠바키』의 미도리 이야기를 통해 2차 세계대전이 양산한 전후 일본의 특 수한 풍경에 관해 검토하고자 한다. 일차적으로는 전쟁의 결과로서 불구가 된 등장인물들의 신체와 일상이 일종의 미세모노(見世物)로서 어떻게 재현되는지 검토하고, 더 나아가 작가 마 루오 스에히로의 미도리 이야기가 정치적인 발언의 장으로 기능하는 지점으로 논의를 확장하 고자 한다. 요컨대 규범화된 미도리의 이미지가 함축하는 바는 전후 일본의 피해자 의식에 경도된 내셔널리즘에 대한 비판이며, 미도리와 국가상징물의 끊임없는 결합은 제국주의를 비 롯한 파시즘에 대한 조롱이다. 결론적으로 『쇼죠츠바키』가 풍자와 역설의 미학을 통해 궁극 적으로 성취한 것은 ‘일본 제국의 미세모노화’ 또는 ‘패전의 미세모노화’라 할 수 있다. 이 글 을 통해 패전 이후 세대로서 한 작가에 의해 재구성된 전후 일본의 세계가 오늘날의 기억 공 간에서 차지하는 바에 관해 되짚어 보는 하나의 기회로 삼고자 한다.
