The main purpose of the current study is two-fold: 1) to look over the two endangered language polices and 2) to explore the effective way of preserving endangered languages. First of all, we examine the two endangered languages from a language policy perspective: the Jeju language used in Jeju and the Gaelic language in Ireland. This is because the countries for each and local communities show great interest in preserving the language and make the language policy clear by law. Through the examination of two endangered languages with different linguistic situations and different geographical locations, it is possible for us to make the effective endangered language policy proposals in the future. The other is to suggest what kind of policy considerations are needed for endangered language conservation by comparing two endangered language policies.
