The purpose of this study is to explore the direction of music education for fostering global citizenship based on practical music education. To this end, global citizenship and global citizenship education, praxial music education, and artistic citizenship of David J. Elliott were examined first, confirming the need for music education that can contribute to the development of individuals and social communities. The results of the research on the direction of music education for the pomotion of global citizenship are as follows. In the cognitive domain, provide opportunities to appreciate musical works of various cultures and develop musical literacy, investigate and analyze multicultural music and compare it to our own, and engage in discussion and debate through music. In the social and emotional domain, students are encouraged to promote equality in education through musicing activities, motivate responsibility and sharing by watching videos of sharing activities, and form a network community to communicate with students from other countries who need to share. In the behavioral domain, networking with schools in other countries engages students in global citizenship, allows them to see the results of their actions, and provides direct opportunities for music sharing.

본 연구는 실천적 음악교육에 기반을 두고 세계시민성 함양을 위한 음악교육의 방향 을 탐색하는 것에 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 우선 세계시민성과 세계시민교육, 엘리엇 (David. J. Elliott)의 실천적 음악교육과 예술적 시민성을 고찰하였으며 이를 통해 예 술적 시민성 함양 및 개인과 사회 공동체의 발전에 기여할 수 있는 음악교육의 필요성 을 확인할 수 있었다. 세계시민성 함양을 위한 음악교육의 방향을 모색한 결과는 다음 과 같다. 인지적 영역에서는 다양한 문화의 음악 작품을 감상할 수 있는 기회를 제공하 고 음악적 문해력을 기르며, 다문화 음악을 조사하여 우리 음악과 비교·분석하는 활동, 음악을 통한 토의·토론 활동이 이루어지도록 한다. 사회·정서적 영역에서는 음악하기 활동을 통해 평등 교육이 이루어질 수 있도록 이끌고 나눔 활동 실천 영상 시청 등을 통 해 책임감과 나눔에 대한 동기를 부여하며, 나눔이 필요한 타 국가 학생들과 네트워크 커뮤니티를 형성하여 소통할 수 있게 한다. 행동적 영역에서는 타 국가 학교와의 네트 워킹을 통해 학생들의 세계시민으로서의 행동과 참여를 이끄는 한편, 실천한 결과를 확인할 수 있도록 하며, 음악 나눔 활동의 직접적인 기회를 제공한다.
