The purpose of this study was to suggest the directi on of sustainable design in an eco-friendly way for th e fashion industry by examining the characteristics of modular systems. The theoretical background of the study was examined by focusing on domestic and for eign literature books, previous studies, and survey da ta from national organizations, and the empirical dat a analysis was conducted for the last 13 years by sea rching for designers, brands, and keywords mentione d in previous studies. As a result of the data analysis, modular systems expressed in fashion design were ca tegorized as assembled (67%), mobile (10%), and inter changeable (23%). The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, sustainable fashion design is an envi ronmentally friendly method of creating products wit h corporate social responsibility and ethical values, a nd modular systems are an eco-friendly method of pr oviding long-lasting designs with various forms throu gh assembly and disassembly. Second, modular syste ms expressed in fashion design are categorized as as sembled, mobile, and interchangeable. Third, the cha racteristics of modular systems for sustainable fashio n design were simplicity with multifunctional combina tion, variability with creative reunion, and organicity with restorative connection. This study aims to lay th e foundation for sustainable fashion brands through modular systems that show promise in design.

본연구의목적은모듈러시스템의특성을살펴봄으로써끊 임없이 새로움과다양성을 추구해야하는패션산업에친환경 적인 방법으로 지속가능한 디자인의 방향성을 제시하고자 하 였다. 연구의 방법은국내외 문헌 서적과선행연구및 국가 기 관의조사자료등을중심으로이론적배경을살펴보았으며, 실 증적자료분석은선행연구에언급된디자이너와브랜드및지 속가능과모듈러시스템패션을통한키워드검색을통해최근 13년간으로진행하였다. 자료 분석결과패션디자인에 표현된 모듈러 시스템은 조립형(67%), 이동형(10%), 교체형(23%)으 로 분류되었다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지속가능 패션디자인은 기업의 사회적책임의식과 윤리 적가치를적용한환경친화적인방법들로제품을만들고있었 으며, 모듈러시스템은조립과분해를통한다양한형태구현으 로 오랫동안 사용가능한 디자인을 제공하는 친환경적인 방법 이었다. 둘째, 패션디자인에 표현된 모듈러 시스템은 조립형, 이동형, 교체형으로 분류되었으며 조립형은아이템 변경과 용 도 변환, 이동형은자유로운 디자인 변화와 스타일 변경, 교체 형은 의상 형태 유지나 새로운 형태 생성으로나타났다. 셋째, 지속가능 패션디자인을 향한 모듈러 시스템의 특성은 다기능 적 조합을 전제한단순성, 창의적 재결합을 전제한 가변성, 회 복적연결을전제한유기성으로나타났다. 본연구는디자인에 가능성을보이는 모듈러 시스템을통해지속가능패션브랜드 에 기반을 마련하고자 하였다.
