Designs from the past continue to play a significant role in people's lives today, exerting a profound aesthetic influence that transcends the boundaries of time and culture. Similarly, design and beauty are inseparable components of people's lives, shaping our way of life and taste, weaving a tapestry of preferences and influencing our daily choices and perceptions. The purpose of this study is to find out the aesthetic characteristics of the grotesque style, analyze elements that can be referenced in artist Felicien Rops' paintings, and how to use them in modern make up design. Based on this, it can be said that the final purpose of this study is to incorporate the grotesque style in to modern makeup design. Regarding the theoretical back ground, we looked at previous studies on domestic and foreign professional literature, Internet data, and research on painting works. In addition, in order to better accurately analyze the artistic characteristics of the grotesque, the representative painter of the grotesque style was chosen. To this end, 10 makeup designs were produced, directed, and presented, laying the foundation for creating a new aesthetic sense away from the existing single creative concept in three ways: data reference, color analysis, and overallillustration styling. The characteristics of modern makeup design based on the Grotesque style are as follows. First, I was inspired by Felicien Rops' paintings using grotesque characteristics, and second, it showed grotesque weirdness, texture, vivid color use, and impact in color analysis, and third, it pursued beautiful beauty with strong contrast between colorful objects and makeup designs.

과거의 디자인은 오늘날에도 여전히 사람들의 삶에 사용 되며 많은 미학적 영향을 미치고 있다. 마찬가지로 디자인과 아름다움도 사람들의 삶에서 뗄 수 없는 부분이며, 미적 디자 인은 삶에 시각적, 심리적, 육체적 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 본연 구는 그로테스크 스타일의 미적 특징을 알아보고 예술가 펠 리시앙 롭스의 회화적 표현기법 분석을 통해 현대 메이크업 디자인에 효과적으로 적용시키기 위한 기법연구를 진행하기 로 하였다. 이를 토대로 기존 회화의 그로테스크 스타일을 현 대 메이크업 디자인에 접목해 보는 것이 본 연구의 최종적인 목적이라 할 수 있다. 이론적인 배경에 관하여 인터넷 데이 터 및 국내외 전문문헌자료와 선행연구, 회화작품 연구를 살 펴보았으며, 또한 펠리시앙 롭스 미학적 특징을 보다 정확하 게 분석하기 위해 그로테스크 스타일의 대표작품을 전문가의 도움을 받아 선정하였다. 선정된 작품을 다시 오브제로 사용 된 자료참고, 색채 분석, 전체적인 일러스트 스타일링 세 가 지 형식으로 나우어 10개의 메이크업 디자인을 작품제작을 진행하였다. 작품기법은 첫째, 비정상성, 둘째, 공포성, 셋째, 유희성, 마지막으로 부조화성으로 구분지어 진행하였다. 이 를 통해 기존의 회화적 특징을 현대아트 메이크업에 적용하 여 창의성과 예술성을 추구하여 메이크업이 갖고 있는 디자 인적 영역을 확대하고 발전시키기위한 기초자료로 활용되기 를 기대한다.
