The purpose of this study is to examine the childhood education of the crown prince, who received the best education during the Joseon Dynasty. In addition, it presents the issues of correct child education today. In addition, the reality of our education living under the benefits of modern material civilization is discussed through the character education of the crown prince of the Joseon Dynasty. The contents of this study were as follows. First, we looked at the characteristics of Joseon’s crown prince education. Second, the purpose and characteristics of prenatal education in the Joseon royal family were examined. Third, the characteristics of Joseon’s crown prince education were discussed in connection with character education. The conclusion of this study was as follows. First, character education was emphasized in the education of crown princes in Joseon. Second, character education in Joseon began from an early age. In particular, the more noble the class, the earlier they started character education. Third, it was revealed that even in modern Korean school education, it is necessary to start character education from an early age according to the Joseon Dynasty’s education method for the crown prince and noble class.

이 연구의 목적은 조선시대 최고의 교육을 받은 세자의 어린 시절 교육을 고찰하면서 오늘날의 올바른 자녀교육 문제를 제시한다. 또한 조선시대 세자의 인성교육을 통해 현대 물질문명의 혜택 속에 살고 있는 우리 교육 현실을 논한다. 이 연구의 내용은 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 조선의 세자 교육의 특징을 살폈다. 둘째, 조선 왕실의 태교가 지닌 목적과 특징을 살폈다. 셋째, 조선의 세자 교육의 특성을 인성교육과 연계하여 논의했다. 이 연구의 결론은 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 조선의 세자 교육에서는 인성교육을 강조했다. 둘째, 조선의 인성교육은 어릴 때부터 시작했다. 특히 귀족층일수록 인성교육을 일찍부터 시작했다. 셋째, 현대 한국의 학교교육 현장에서도 조선의 세자 및 귀족층 교육 방식에 따라 어릴 때부터 인성교육을 시작하는 것이 필요하다는 것을 밝혔다.
