This study aims to fill the theoretical gap of why an anxiety about indefinite one(s) causes intolerance on minorities. It hypothesizes the mediating role of subjective well-being, trust in government and society on the relationship between sociotropic threat and tolerance on minorities. In other words, an anxiety about indefinite one(s) reduces individuals’ subjective well-being, trust in government and society, and the reduced subjective well-being, trust in government and society affect tolerance on minorities negatively. The statistical analysis result confirms the mediating effects of subjective well-being, trust in government and society. On the other hand, the statistical analysis result shows that the direct effects of sociotropic threat are insignificant. That is, Sociotropic threat cannot affect tolerance on minorities without the mediating variables. This study is significant in that it identifies how safety issues can affect tolerance on minorities.
