The purpose of this study is to investigate the significant factors at both the school and student levels that influence middle school students' science achievement in the national academic achievement assessment conducted in the year 2020. To achieve this research objective, an analysis was performed on the science achievement scores and survey data of middle school students from the 2020 national academic achievement assessment conducted by the Korean Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation. The study included a total of 212 middle schools, 481 teachers, and 10,605 middle school students. The variables analyzed comprised five school-level variables and six student-level variables. Multilevel structural equation modeling was applied for data analysis. The research results are as follows: Among the school-level variables during the pandemic period in 2020, factors such as teachers' science classroom activities(γ=.41, p<.001) and satisfaction with remote teaching(γ=-.14, p<.05) had a significant impact on science achievement. Specifically, science teachers' classroom activities had the most significant influence on students' achievement, and among the variables related to remote teaching, teacher-created interactive teaching methods had the most significant positive impact.

본 연구의 목적은 2020년도 국가수준 학업성취도평가에 나타난 중학생의 과학 성취도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 학교수준 변수와 학생수준 변수를 규명하는데 있다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위해서 한국교육과정평가원이 시행한 2020년도의 국가수준학업성취도평가의 중학생 과학성적과 설문조사 데이터 분석했다. 데이터에 포함된 대상은 중학교 212개교, 교사 481명, 중학생 10,605명이며, 설문조사 결과 및 학업성취도 평가 결과가 포함되어있다. 분석에 포함된 변수는 학교수준 6개, 학생수준 7개이고, 자료분석을 위해서 다층구조방정식모형분석을 적용했다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 팬데믹 기간인 2020년도 학교수준 변수들 가운데 교사의 과학수업활동(γ=.41, p<.001), 원격수업만족도(γ=-.14, p<.05) 등이 과학성적에 유의미한 영향을 주었다. 특히 과학교사의 수업활동은 학생들의 성취에 가장 큰 영향을 주었고, 원격수업 관련 변수 중에서는 교사제작 쌍방향 수업방식이 가장 큰 긍정적인 영향을 주었다.
