In-app payment model has become a common business model for mobile games, but it has been consistently criticized. In particular, the sale of probability-based items that explicitly induce payments within the game or pay compensation with an excessively low probability is subject to continuous criticism. This study analyzed users' evaluations of games that are currently showing high sales by conducting topic modeling on reviews of the top 10 games in mobile game sales. Analysis using BERTopic resulted in six topics: pleasant experiences, dissatisfaction with game applications, dissatisfaction with billing systems and results, dissatisfaction with game operations, ease of starting games, and dissatisfaction with the content itself. Accordingly, practical suggestions were drawn for mobile game operation for in-app payment models, and theoretical implications were presented by applying the latest techniques to topic modeling analysis. Based on the results, this study elaborates discussions for sustainable mobile game ecosystems.

모바일 게임에서 인앱 결제(in-app purchase) 모델은 일반적인 비즈니스 모델로 자리 잡았지만, 다양한 이용자에게 만족감을 주는지 아닌지는 의문이었다. 특히, 게임 내에서 결제를 노골적으로 유도하거나, 지나치게 낮 은 확률로 보상을 지급하는 확률형 아이템 판매는 지속적인 비판의 대상이 되고 있다. 본 연구는 모바일 게임 매 출 상위 10개 게임의 리뷰에 대한 토픽 모델링을 수행하여, 현재 높은 매출을 기록하고 있는 게임들에 대한 이용 자들의 평가를 분석하였다. BERTopic을 이용해 분석한 결과 즐거운 경험, 게임 애플리케이션에 대한 불만, 과금 체계 및 결과에 대한 불만, 게임 운영에 대한 불만, 게임 시작 용이성, 그리고 콘텐츠 자체에 대한 불만 등 여섯 가지 토픽을 도출하였다. 아울러 현재 인앱 결제 모델을 채택한 모바일 게임 운영과 제도 설정에 전략적이며 실천 적인 제언 도출하고, 모바일 게임 리뷰 데이터의 토픽 모델링 분석에 BERT 기반 최신 기법을 적용하여 이론적인 함의를 제시하였다. 이에 더해 연구 결과를 토대로 지속 가능한 모바일 게임 생태계에 대한 논의를 발전시켰다.
