청춘경로회는 조선시대 강릉에서 행해졌던 孝親 행사이다. 班常의 구별 없이 고을의 70세 이상 노인을 모두 초청하였다는 특징이 있다. 조선은 효친 사상을 국가적으로 적극 권장했다고는 하지만, 반상의 구별은 지방에까지 엄격히 적용 되는 시대였다. 그러므로 청춘경로회는 파격적 행사로 인식되었고, 평등과 인 류애가 반영되었던 강릉만의 특색 있는 효친 행사로 평가된다. 신분 질서를 어지럽힌다는 비판과 폄하가 없었고, 예의를 숭상하는 강릉의 미풍양속으로 칭송되었다. 청춘경로회는 반상의 구별 없는 효친 행사라는 특징과 함께 경치 좋은 명승 지에서 회합을 가졌던 모습이 드러난다. 매양 좋은 節侯에 노인들을 명승지에 모셔 잔치를 베풀었다. 청춘경로회의 회합이 명승지에서 이루어졌던 전통은 당시 강릉에 성행했던 유람문화의 영향이었을 것이라 이해되고, 청춘경로회는 鄕飮酒禮와 같이 격식에 구애됨 없이 봄·가을 花煎·단풍놀이 등 일종의 효도 유람을 겸한 경로회였다는 특징이 있다.
