Most of churches in US and South Korea, have some trouble on edcuational ministry for next generation. Several charts and articles show that Sunday school undergoes hard time to gather people, and many students leaves church after their graduating High School. Some scholars comment that there were some kinds of failure in Educational Ministry in decent decades. One of the factors of this failure could be to look over the importance of Family in Christian education and faith development. They insists that Family Ministry could be the anohter way of Christian Education. Family ministry, which these scholars and pastors comments, is the intentional strategy to make disciples at home under leading of parents. This ministry tries to make every effort to equip parents as primal teachers and leaders for making their children be disciple of Jesus Christ. In Exodus and Deuteronomy, Bible emphasizes the role of parents for teaching God’s grace on their lives, especially in the situation of worship. Parents and children participate in every step of Passover worhsip, including of cleaning the home, preparing foods for family according to the directions, and dining together on same table. Bible directs there should be a conversation, starting with children’s asking for the meaning of what they did together. Parents should share their experience of God in life, and teach children what God has done for Israelites. This process of worship could be a process of disciple making at home. Like parents in Exodus and Deuteronomy, Family ministers insist that today’s parents could be do the same things, and church should help and equip them be spiritual leaders at home. Church should prepare the material of christian education which can be used in family situation, especailly between parents and children, and give some special programs and seminars for parents, which help them understand their roles and duties for their childen’s faith. Family ministry might not be a total solution for problems of Sunday school and next generation. However, Family ministry should be included in the educational ministry in church, and considered very carefully for the alternatives for making disciples.

주일학교 위기에 관한 논의는 현재 한국 사회에서 진행중이다. 많은 교회들과 목 회자들이 이 문제로 고민을 하고, 새로운 방법을 연구하며, 도전하고 있다. 기존의 한 국 기독교 교육은 교회학교 중심으로 운영이 되어왔다. 이러한 현실 가운데 문제를 만났기에, 대안적 고민이 필요한 시점이 되었다. 미국 교회도 이와 비슷한 어려움을 겪어왔다. 다음 세대의 문제를 해결하기 위해 서 여러 가지의 유초등부 중고등부 목회에 관련된 방법들이 제시되고 시도 되었지만, 여전히 다음 세대와 교회학교에 관한 문제가 교회의 고민거리이다. 여러 학자들이 이러한 교회교육의 문제에 대한 대안으로 가정에서의 신앙교육과 제자 훈련을 제안했다. 기존의 교회학교 중심에서 벗어나 매일의 삶 가운데 있는 가 정 이라는 장소와, 부모-자녀라는 특수한 관계를 기반으로 신앙이 전수되고 그리스도 의 제자화를 이루어가자는 목표를 가지고 여러 가지 방법들을 제시하게 된다. 신앙 교육에 있어서 가정의 중요성과 부모를 통하여서 자녀에게 하나님에 대하여서 증거하는 것은 성경에서 가르치는 방식이다. 특별히 출애굽기 12장 13장에 기록된 유월절과 무교절을 지키는 방식에서 신앙에 있어서 가정의 역할과 부모의 책임과 의 무가 드러나고 있다. 현재까지 유월절과 무교절을 성경적 방식으로 지키고 있는 유대 인들의 방식이 참고가 될 수 있다. 현재 미국에서 진행되고 있는 가정 사역은 기독교 신앙교육과 그리스도의 제자를 만드는 일의 중심에 가정을 놓고, 그 일차적 책임을 준비된 부모가 져야 한다는 것에 중점이 있다. 즉, 기독교교육과 목회의 대상으로서 가정과 부모를 재정의 하는 것이 다. 이를 위해서, 가정은 교육 목회의 대상으로서 연구되고 준비되어야 한다. 가정이 라는 특수한 상황과, 부모-자녀라는 친밀한 관계를 바탕으로 신앙교육과 제자화의 과 정이 이루어지기 위한 커리큘럼의 개발과, 교육 도구 및 매뉴얼의 제작, 실제로 현장 에서 사용 가능한 목회적 제안에 대한 연구가 향후 기독교교육과 교회의 다음세대 문 제의 개선 방안에 포함되기를 제안한다.
