The purpose of the present study was to verify the effect of stereotypes about gender-roles perceived by college students on the dating violence recognition and dating violence acceptability. In addition, it was also verified whether dating violence acceptability mediates between gender-role stereotypes and dating violence recognition. The analysis results are as follows. First, as a result of examining the correlation of the main variables, there was significant relationship between gender- role stereotypes and dating violence recognition (total, behavior control, verbal violence, physical violence, and sexual violence), and there was significant relationship between gender- role stereotypes and dating violence acceptability. But there was no significant relationship between dating violence acceptability and dating violence recognition (total, behavior control, physical violence, and sexual violence). Second, a regression analysis was conducted to specifically confirm the causal relationship between the variables identified through correlation analysis. it was found that gender-role stereotypes had significant effect on dating violence recognition (total, behavior control, verbal violence, physical violence, and sexual violence), but it was found to have a significant effect on the dating violence acceptability. In addition, the mediating effect of dating violence acceptability was examined in the relationship between gender-role stereotypes and dating violence recognition (total, behavioral control, verbal violence, physical violence, and sexual violence). However, there was no mediating effect of dating violence acceptability in the relationship between gender-role stereotypes and dating violence recognition (total, behavior control, verbal violence, physical violence, and sexual violence).

최근 데이트폭력 실태조사와 더불어 데이트폭력 가해ㆍ피해에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구가 많이 증가하였는데 가장 강 력한 예측 변인으로 성역할고정관념이 주목되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 대학생이 지각하는 성역할고정관념이 데이트폭력에 대한 허용도와 인식에 미치는 영향에 대해 검증하고, 추가적으로 데이트폭력 허용도가 성역할고정관념과 데이트폭력 인식 사이를 매개하는지에 대해서도 검증하고자 한다. 우선 주요 변인들의 상관관계를 살펴본 결과 성역할고정관념 과 데이트폭력 허용도 간에 정적인 상관관계를 나타내어 성역할 고정관념 수준이 높을수록 데이트 폭력을 허용하는 수준도 높아 진다는 것을 보여주었다. 반대로 성역할고정관념과 데이트폭력 인식 간에 부적인 상관관계를 나타내고 있는데, 다시말하면 성역 할 고정관념이 높을수록 자신에게 가해진 폭력을 심각한 데이트 폭력으로 생각하지 않을 가능성이 높다는 의미로 해석할 수 있 다. 그리고 연구자의 예상과는 달리 데이트폭력 허용도와 데이트폭력 인식 간에 유의미한 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 상관분석을 통해 확인된 변수 간 인과관계를 구체적 으로 확인하기 위해 회귀분석을 실시한 결과 성역할고정관념이 데이트폭력 허용도에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고 데 이트폭력 인식에 부적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 추가적으로 성역할고정관념과 데이트폭력 인식의 관계에서 데이트폭력 허용도의 매개효과를 살펴보았지만 성역할고정관념과 데이트폭 력 인식의 관계에서 데이트폭력 허용도의 매개효과는 나타나지 않았다. 결과적으로 본 연구에서는 성역할고정관념의 개선이 궁극적으로 데이트폭력 행동을 줄이는데 큰 역할을 할 수 있다는 사실을 밝혀냈으며 구체적인 개입전략을 수립하기 위한 기초자 료의 제공이라는 측면에서 공헌점을 찾을 수 있겠다.
