Effect of the Pelvic Compression Belt on Lower Limb’s Muscle Activities and Performance of Vertical Jump in Young Females
초록
영어
The use of a pelvic compression belt (PCB) contributes to increased stability of the lumbopelvic region by closely contacting the articular surfaces in the sacroiliac joint, which aids in the relief of pain and discomfort in the lower back and legs. The study aimed to examine the effects of wearing PCB on the activities of specific leg muscles and vertical jump performance in healthy young women. Thirty young women volunteered to participate in this study. Electromyography was performed on the multifidus, gluteus maximus, rectus femoris, biceps femoris, and gastrocnemius muscles during vertical jump activity with and without the PCB. In addition, vertical jump performance, including jump height and duration of the flight, was assessed. The activities of the gluteus maximus and biceps femoris increased with PCB and the duration of the flight in jumpᅠ(p<0.05). These findings imply that the PCB has a beneficial effect on increasing the lower limb's muscle activity and jump performance. Future studies must validate the long-term effects of wearing the PCB and the effects of its involvement on various functional issues.
