The purpose of this study was to find out the experiences and meaning of ETC-based slime art therap y for verbal and non-verbal emotional expression in children with cochlear implants. The participant was a 10-year-old girl attending the 4th grade of a general elementary school who underwent cochlea r implant surgery at the age of 3 due to congenital hearing loss. From November 2022 to March 2023, she participated in eight sessions of art therapy, once a week, for 50 minutes per session. The art therapy program was designed based on the ETC (Exploration, Transformation, and Creation) stage. Data collection involved the art therapy facilitator's research diary, result images, recorded vide os, observer's behavioral observation record, and interview data with the participant's guardians. Throu gh the analysis of the collected data, five main themes and fourteen sub-themes were derived. The main themes were as follows: , , , , and . Based on these themes, the participant's experiences were analyzed. The results of this study are as follows. First, the participant found her shrinking self due to difficulties in expression. Second, she actively selected and tried different art media and experienced subjective exploration. Third, she discovered the empowering force of positive self-growth. Fourth, she experienced a creative dimensi on in her art expression by integrating the ETC level. Fifth, through ETC-based slime art therapy, she pursued tactile and auditory stimulation, leading to a sense of security. Lastly, children with cochl ear implants showed an expansion of verbal and non-verbal behavioral expression through slime art therapy. In conclusion, this study found that ETC-based slime art therapy for children with cochlear implants helped alleviate suppressed and atrophied emotions, restore psychological stability, and facili tate emotional expression.

본 연구는 인공와우 착용 아동의 언어적·비언어적 정서 표현을 위한 ETC 기반 슬라임 미술치료를 통한 경험과 그 경험의 의미는 무엇인지 알아보는 데에 있다. 연구 참여자는 선천성 난청으로 만 3세 때 인공와우 수술을 한 일반 초등학교 4학년에 재학 중인 만 10세 여아이며 2022년 11월부터 2023년 3월까지 주 1회, 50분씩, 총 8회의 미술치료에 참여하였으며 연구를 위한 미술치료 프로그램은 ETC 단계를 토대로 구성하였다. 자료 수집은 미술치료 진행자의 연구일기, 결과물 이미지, 녹화된 영상, 관찰자의 행동 관찰 기록지 및 보호자와의 면담 자료 등을 통해 이루어졌으며, 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과 5개의 상위주제와 14개의 하위주제를 도출하였 다. 상위주제는 <위축된 자신의 모습을 발견함>, <처음 느껴보는 주체적인 탐색>, <긍정적인 자기 성장의 힘>, <창조적 여정의 시작>, <소리의 발견>으로 나타났으며 이를 중심으로 연구 참여자의 경험을 분석하였다. 본 연구 의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 참여자는 표현의 어려움으로 인한 위축된 자신의 모습을 발견하였다. 둘째, 참여자 는 능동적으로 매체를 선택하고 시도하며 주체적인 탐색을 경험하였다. 셋째, 참여자는 긍정적인 자기 성장의 힘을 발견하였다. 넷째, 참여자는 ETC 수준을 통합하여 창조적 수준을 경험하였다. 다섯째, ETC 기반 슬라임 미술치료를 통해 촉각과 청각적 자극을 추구하며 안정감을 경험하였다. 마지막으로 인공와우를 착용한 아동은 슬라임 미술치료를 통해 언어적·비언어적 행동 표현의 확장을 보여주었다. 이에 본 연구는 ETC 기반 슬라임 매체 미술치료를 통해 인공와우 아동의 억압되고 위축된 정서를 이완하고 심리적 안정을 회복하며 정서적 표출에 도움을 주었다는 점에서 본 연구의 의의가 있다.
