With the advancement of AI technology, the use of generative AI services is becoming popular worldwide. The application of such technology has brought about a series of legal issues and challenges. The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive understanding of generative AI services in the Chinese legal environment and to provide effective insight into the future legal regulatory outlook. First, this paper explores the definition of generative AI services and analyzes the current state of application in China to provide a comprehensive background understanding. Then, starting from the current legal environment in China, the deficiencies and shortcomings of the existing legal system are revealed. To manage this emerging field more effectively, the Chinese government has proposed Provisional Measures for the Management of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services󰡔Management Measures󰡕. This paper provides an in-depth interpretation of the various provisions of the Measures, including their definitions, scope of application, regulations on generated content, and regulations on personal information protection and data sources. In the process of evaluating the approach, its merits and innovation are clearly pointed out, as well as the shortcomings and possible improvements. Finally, the approach is summarily evaluated and the future development trend of legal regulation of generative AI is predicted.
