Prior to discussing Tsze-kung[子貢]'s activities on the international diplomatic stage, this paper examines the articles of 〈仲尼弟子列傳〉(《史記》), which are widely cited and talked about when discussing Tsze-kung's diplomatic activities, from a historical point of view. To this end, this sheet examined Tsze-kung's performance on the international diplomatic stage recorded in 《仲尼弟子列傳》(端木賜)'s biography, followed by two of his diplomatic activities recorded in the 《左傳》. As a result of the examination, the record of 《仲尼弟子列傳》 was clearly suspected of being a postscript. The contents of the incident were also unclear, and even when the incident occurred, it did not match the records of the librarian. Nevertheless, when describing Tsze-kung's performance on the international diplomatic stage, many people cite the corresponding article in 《仲尼弟子列傳》's exhibition and make their arguments based on it. This is also a problem in terms of distortion of facts, but it is also a serious obstacle to understanding the true nature of the self-communication. The diplomatic articles recorded there were compiled and composed of data related to compete for the supremacy in a country[中原經略] of Wú[吳], which began around the 7th year of Lǔ[魯] āi-gōng[哀公], to shine on Tsze-kung's activities. Therefore, there is no aspect that corresponds to the records of 〈孔子世家〉 or 《左傳》. If you want to see the activities of Tsze-kung on the international diplomatic stage, you must look at the records of other librarians(for example, 《左傳》 etc.). However, it was not covered in this paper due to the issue of the paper. I will consider it in detail later.

본고는 자공의 국제외교 무대에서의 활약을 논하기에 앞서, 자공의 외교 활동을 논할 때 널리 인용되고 회자되는 제자전(『史記』 ｢仲尼弟子列傳｣ ‘端木賜’ 條)의 기사를 사료비판적 입장에서 고찰한 것이다. 이를 위해 소론에서는 제자전에 기록된 자공의 국제외교 무대에서의 활약을 살피고, 이어 『좌전』에 기록된 그의 외교 활동 두 가지를 살폈다. 고찰의 결과 제자전의 기록은 후인의 조설(造說)로 의심되는 면이 역력했다. 사건의 내용도 불분명할 뿐더러 사건이 일어난 해도 사서(史書)의 기록과 일치하지 않았다. 그럼에도 자공의 국제외교 무대에서의 활약을 논술할 때 많은 사람들은 제자전의 해당 기사를 인용하고 이를 근거로 삼아 자신의 주장을 펼친다. 이는 사실의 왜곡이란 측면에서도 문제가 되지만, 자공의 진면을 이해하는 데에도 심각한 장애가 된다. 거기에 기록된 외교 관련 기사들은 후인이 자공의 행적을 빛내기 위해 애공 7년 무렵부터 시작된 오(吳)의 중원경략[覇] 관련 자료를 짜깁기해서 구성한 것들이다. 그래서 ｢공자세가｣나 『좌전』의 기록과 조응하는 면이 없다. 자공이 국제외교 무대에서 펼친 행적을 보려면 다른 사서(史書)[『좌전』]의 기록을 살펴야 한다. 다만 지면 관계 상 본고에서는 다루지 못했다. 차후 상세히 고찰해 보겠다.
