The purpose of the study is to examine the effect of adolescents’ experience of discrimination damage on human rights consciousness and to verify the mediating effect of self-esteem and school life satisfaction in the relationship. For the analysis of the study, the 660 subjects were selected from the 2018 Korean Children and Youth Human Rights Survey conducted by the Korea Youth Policy Institute. The data were analyzed by utilizing various methods including the structural equation and correlation analysis. The major findings are as follows. First, the experience of discrimination damage in adolescents was positively related to their human rights consciousness. Second, the partial mediating effect of self-esteem was confirmed in the relationship between adolescents’ experience of discrimination damage and human rights consciousness. Third, school life satisfaction had a the partial mediating effect between adolescents’ experience of discrimination damage and human rights consciousness. Based on the above results, various programs of welfare intervention to promote adolescents’ human rights consciousness were suggested.

본 연구는 청소년의 차별피해경험이 인권의식에 미치는 영향과 그 관계에서 자아존 중감과 학교생활만족도의 매개효과를 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 분석을 위해 한국청소 년정책연구원에서 조사한 2018년 한국아동·청소년 인권실태조사 자료를 사용하여 최 종 660명을 연구대상자로 선정하였고, 상관관계와 구조방정식 등을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년의 차별피해경험은 인권의식과 정(+)적 인 관계를 갖는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 청소년의 차별피해경험과 인권의식 간의 관 계에서 자아존중감의 부분매개효과가 나타났다. 셋째, 청소년의 차별피해경험과 인권 의식 간의 관계에서 학교생활만족도의 부분매개 효과가 확인되었다. 이러한 결과를 바 탕으로 청소년 인권의식의 증진을 위한 체계적인 복지개입의 방안을 제시하였다.
