The reason that classics are passed on is because they are valuable. The value of classics lies not in their dogmatic lessons but in their practical lessons that provide meaning to our lives. Hence, when modernizing classics, it is essential to put in effort to pass on their value by continuously considering the current times. Recently, there has been a great effort to pass on classics, and this will be continued via many different methods. This study specifically examined methods of spreading classics through Internet blogs and podcasts, and sought their methodologies. Through this, it was confirmed that the value of classics lies in the nature of literature itself, and thanks to globalization, the value of literature should be able to pass from local literature to world literature. Therefore, it was clarified that to pass on classics, we should aim for an inclusive extension by embracing ourselves and everything around us, rather than being engrossed in the value of our own classics. In fact, the blog posts and podcasts that had the most positive responses were those that interpreted local classics through the lens of related foreign myths, tales, novels, or sociocultural contexts, not those that just explained the classics. This is because, through comparing and contrasting local classics with other works, they broadened their breadth of meaning and provided the pleasure of multiple interpretations. This is the proper function of literature and the reason for its existence. Thus, passing on classics should be accomplished through efforts to find our own genuineness and the true value of classics, in addition to studies of local classics’ authenticity and endeavors to pass them on.

고전을 오늘에 계승하려는 이유는 고전이 가치 있기 때문이며, 그 고전의 가치 는 도그마적 교훈 때문이 아니라, 지금 우리 삶에 의미를 주는 실질적 이유 때문이 다. 그러므로 고전의 현재화는 늘 현실을 주시하면서 고전의 가치를 계승하고자 하는 길항의 노력이 필요하다. 그동안 고전을 현재에 계승하고자 하는 많은 노력이 있었고, 앞으로도 계속 이 어질 것인데, 그중에서 본고는 인터넷 블로그를 통한 고전 확산 방법과 팟캐스트 연재를 통한 고전 확산 방법에 대해 검토하고 그 방법론을 모색해 보았다. 이를 통해 고전의 가치란 문학 본연으로서의 가치임을 다시금 확인할 수 있었 고, 문학의 가치는 세계화가 진행된 오늘날에는 우리만의 문학에서 세계 모두의 문학이 될 수 있어야 하며, 그렇기에 우리 고전만의 가치에 매몰되기보다는 우리 와 주변을 아우를 수 있는 외연 확장을 통한 포괄적 계승이어야 함을 분명히 하였 다. 실제로, 네이버 블로그 글이 팟캐스트 연재에서 가장 긍정적인 반응을 것은 고 전 작품만의 설명이 아닌, 우리 고전을 외국의 다른 신화, 설화, 소설 혹은 그들 사회 문화와 연관지어 풀이하는 것이었다. 이는 우리 고전과 주변 다른 것들의 비 교 대조를 통한 외연 확장이 의미의 폭을 넓혀 주고 다양한 해석의 즐거움을 주었 기 때문이다. 이것이 진정한 문학의 본령이자 존재 의의이다. 그러므로 고전의 계승은 우리 고전의 고전다움에 대한 연구와 계승하려는 노력 이 지속적으로 함께 이루어지는 가운데, 우리의 우리다움과 고전의 고전다움의 가 치를 보다 선명하고 깊게 찾아내는 노력이 함께 이루어져야 할 것이다.
