Early design stages of new product development are the most crucial to process most of the product development-related data. However, since data in the early phases are normally in the form of qualitative text-image, and uncertainty-ambiguity are inherently embedded in the initial data, the initial stages are considered the most difficult to conduct. Although many studies on processing initial data using models have been dedicated, those have limitations. Most of the models are action-driven types and their data yielded tend to exist independently and separately with less correlation. With exploratory research using inductive reasoning, this study proposes a data-driven model wherein data can be inferred considering an interrelationship of initial design activities of 4 domains including the market, user, aesthetic and engineering, which leads to data processing-making more intuitively. In addition, this study suggested theoretical conceptual guidance deduced mathematically from the structure and operating mechanism of the model developed.

신제품개발의 초기디자인단계는 제품개발관련 데이터 대부분을 처리하는 단계로 가장 중요하다. 하지만 초기데이터는 정성적 텍스트·이미지 형태이며, 초기단계의 본질적 불확실성·모호성으로 인해 가장 까다로운 단계 로 여겨진다. 초기데이터 처리를 지원하는 모델 연구가 지속적으로 이루어져왔지만, 실질적·실용적으로 해결하는 데는 한계가 있었다. 대부분이 활동 주도형 모델로써 산출되는 데이터는 상호연관성 없이 독립적으로 분리되어 존 재한다. 귀납추론을 이용한 탐색적 연구를 통해 시장, 사용자, 미학, 공학 각 영역의 초기디자인활동 간의 상호관 련성을 바탕으로 산출되는 데이터를 서로 추론할 수 있는 데이터 주도형 모델을 제시함으로써 보다 직관적으로 데이터 처리 및 결정을 지원하고자 한다. 또한 모델의 구조 및 작동방식을 수학적으로 추론한 이론적 개념 지침도 함께 제공하고자 한다.
