This study noted that economic inequality that intensifies after the pandemic can lead to another disaster inequality, deepening social conflicts. Therefore, from the perspective of the Principle of Mutual Existance, I tried to suggest a direction for discourse to alleviate economic inequality by analyzing the discourse on the living wage system in the United States and the United Kingdom. As a result of the study, in view of the Principle of Mutual Existance, the core discourse of living wage has the following positive meaning. First, the living wage presupposes a paradigm shift from the viewpoint of labor and pursuit of profit to the viewpoint of dignity and value. Second, the family is reflected as a set unit of wages. Third, the local community worked hard to introduce the living wage system while developing the living wage movement. Furthermore, the living wage discourse informed that the center of discussion should be shifted to a human-centered paradigm rather than an economic growth paradigm. In addition, it is necessary to form a continuous consensus so that the wealthy can voluntarily participate, and it suggests that active participation of religious organizations is required to restore their original mind and practice sharing and love.

본 연구는 팬데믹 이후 심화되는 경제적 불평등이 또 다른 재난불평등으로 이어져 사회적 갈등을 심화시킬 수 있다는 점에 주목하면서 공생주의의 관점에서 미국과 영국 등에서 이루어진 생활임금제 담론을 분석하여 경제불평등을 완화하기 위한 담론의 방향을 제언해보고자 하였다. 연구결과 공생주의로 볼 때 생활임금의 핵심 담론은 인간을 노동과 이윤 추구의 관점이 아닌 존엄과 가치의 관점으로 바라보는 패러다임의 전환을 전제하고 있으며 가족이 임금의 설정단위로 반영되도록 하고, 지 역공동체가 생활임금운동을 전개하고 제도로 도입되도록 노력했다는 점에서 긍정적 인 의미가 있었다. 이러한 생활임금 담론은 경제불평등 완화를 위해서는 담론의 중 심이 경제성장의 패러다임이 아닌 인간 중심의 패러다임으로 전환되어야 하며 부유 층이 자발적으로 참여할 수 있도록 지속적인 공감대 형성이 요청되고, 본심의 회복 과 나눔과 사랑의 실천을 위해 종교단체의 적극적인 참여가 요청됨을 시사하고 있 다고 볼 수 있다.
