This paper investigates the ralation between Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) and Innovation of firms. Samples are 579 manufacturing firms those ESG score has been disclosed in the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability(KCGS), listed on KOSPI and KOSDAQ in 2021. CSR was measured by the ESG score, environment sector score, social sector score and governance sector score, disclosed by KCGI. Innovation was measured by indicators selected from the 2022 Private Innovation Scoreboard, announced by of Korea Institute of Science & Technology Evaluation and Planning(KISTEP) The results are as follows. First, the ESG score and innovation showed a significantly positive(+) correlation. Second, most variables used to innovation and environment score, society score, governance structure also showed a significantly positive(+) correlation. The implications are as follows. First, it confirmed the need to measure CSR performance in terms of innovation. At the same time, it is suggested that innovation should be selected as a moderator, mediator, control variable to analyze the relation between CSR and financial performance. Second, by proving that Scoreboard can measure the innovation of firm and proving the significantly positve relation between CSR and innovation, it confirmed the appropriateness of the Scoreboard. Third, it is necessary for the government to make private R&D support policies to consider ESG activities through these results. Key words: CSR, Innovaton, Private Innovaton Scoreboar

본 연구는 기업의 사회적 책임활동과 혁신 활동의 관련성을 실증분석한다. 표본은 2021년 현재 KOSPI, KOSDAQ 상장 제조기업 중 한국 ESG기준원(KCGS)에 ESG 점수가 공시된 579개 기업이다. 기업의 사회적 책임활동은 한국ESG기준원에서 공시한 ESG 점수와 ESG 점수를 구성하는 환경 부문, 사회 부문, 지배구조 부문의 점수로 측정하였으며, 혁신활동은 한국과학기술기획평가원(KISTEP)의 2022 민간혁신스코 어보드의 지표 중 개별 기업 단위로 측정할 수 있는 9개를 선정한 후 이를 점수화하여 사용하였다. 분석 결과, ESG와 혁신활동의 유의한 양(+) 의 관련성을 확인하였으며, ESG를 구성하는 환경, 사회 지배구조 부문 변수와 혁신점수 산출에 활용한 개별 변수 간에도 대부분 유의한 양(+) 의 관련성을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기업의 사회적 책임활동이 성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 선행연구의 결과가 혼재된 상황에서 기업의 사회적 책임활동의 성과를 혁신 측면에서 측정할 필요성을 확인하였다. 동시에 기업의 사회적 책임활동과 재무성과의 관련성을 분석할 때 혁 신을 매개변수, 조절변수, 통제변수 등으로 연구모형에 반영해야 함을 제안한다. 둘째, 2022년 새롭게 구성한 민간혁신스코어보드로 실제 기업 의 혁신성을 측정할 수 있으며, 혁신에 대한 CSR의 영향을 확인하여 2022년 민간혁신스코어보드의 지표의 적절성을 입증하였다. 이를 통해 정 부의 민간 R&D 지원 및 평가에 ESG를 고려한다면 보다 효율적이고 지속가능한 지원체계를 마련할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
