During the Ming dynasty, ideological control was thoroughly controlled so that even lectures could not be held except for LiXue. However, in the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the blind spots of 'LiXue' began to gradually emerge. As a result, many intellectuals gradually turned their attention to 'XinXue', which was opposed to 'LiXue'. is called 'Yangming Study'. The representative figure is Wang Shou-ren, and after his surname ‘Yangming’, the ideas he advocated are called ‘Yangming Study’. After Wang Su-in's death, Yangming Study was divided into various sects. Among them, The Taizhou school totally accepted the ideas of Patriarch-chan thoughts. This Taizhou school was especially called the ‘leftist’ because it fully embraced the ideas of Patriarch-chan thoughts. At that time, as the Buddhist community declined, Patriarch-chan thoughts was not active, so they argued that they had the legitimacy of Patriarch-chan thoughts. They tried to follow the style of Joseon in real life, and they called ‘Crazy Chan’. In this paper, the perception of Patriarch-chan thoughts of the Taeju School was examined through the ‘Crazy Chan’.

명대(明代)는 국가권력에서 이학(理學)과 관련된 학문 이외에는 강의조 차도 할 수 없도록 철저하게 사상적으로 통제하는 정책을 펼쳤다. 그러나 명대 중기에 이르러서 ‘이학’의 맹점이 점차 드러나기 시작했다. 그에 따 라 지식인들은 점차 송대(宋代)에서 ‘이학’과 대립하였던 ‘심학(心學)’에 관심을 돌리게 되었고, 그 대표적인 인물이 바로 왕수인(王守仁)이며, 그의 호인 ‘양명(陽明)’을 따라 그가 제창한 사상을 ‘양명학(陽明學)’이라고 칭 한다. 왕수인의 사후에 양명학은 다양한 분파로 나눠진다. 그 가운데 태주학 파에서는 전적으로 조사선의 사상을 받아들였다. 이 태주학파는 특히 ‘좌 파(左派)’로 칭해졌는데, 그것은 조사선(祖師禪)의 사상을 전적으로 수용하 였기 때문이다. 당시 불교계가 쇠퇴함에 따라 조사선이 활발하지 못했기 때문에 이들은 오히려 자신들이 조사선의 정통성을 가지고 있다고 주장하 였다. 이들은 실제 생활에서도 조사선의 가풍(家風)을 따르고자 하였는데, 그를 ‘광선(狂禪)’이라고 칭한다. 본 논문에서는 태주학파를 주도한 탁오 이지의 사상을 중심으로 조사선 에 대한 인식과 그로부터 유행하게 된 ‘광선’을 고찰하였다.
