Background: The number of elderly single-person households is increasing due to the rapid aging of our society, the collapse of the traditional family system, and the nuclear family. This causes social isolation of the elderly, resulting in many social problems such as depression, lonely death, and suicide. Purpose: This study aims to confirm the impact of elderly volunteer experiences on social isolation, especially quality of life, through qualitative case research methods as part of measures to resolve social isolation for the elderly. Methodology/Access: The study participants selected five participants who wanted to participate in the study as elderly volunteers at the A Senior Center, and each had three in-depth interviews for a total of 150 minutes. As a data analysis method, Bryman & Burgess (2002) approached with in-case analysis and Between case analysis, and based on oral data of research participants, the subject was discovered through the process, process, and emotions of volunteering experience. Results/Conclusion: This study derived common topics such as improving self-esteem through identity verification, reassigning social roles, psychology and stability from belonging, improving self-integration through self-acceptance, and expanding psychological productivity through volunteer work./ It was confirmed that volunteer activities in old age are achieving a sense of self-integration through positive thinking and self-acceptance rather than negative perceptions such as solitude and futility that can be felt in old age. Implications: It is necessary to raise and support social awareness and support the elderly in order to reduce the social risk of the elderly society, and as part of this, the establishment and expansion of a volunteer system for the elderly can help resolve social isolation.

배경: 우리사회의 급속한 고령화, 저출산 현상속에서 전통가족 시스템 붕괴, 핵가족화등으로 노인1인 가구 가 증가되고 있다. 이는 노인들의 사회적 고립을 초래하고, 이로 인한 우울, 고독사, 자살등 많은 사회문 제가 양산 되고 있다. 목적: 본 연구는 노인들의 사회적 고립해소 방안의 일환으로 노인자원봉사 경험이 사회적고립 해소 특히 삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 질적 사례 연구방법을 통해 확인해보고자 한다. 방법론/접근: 연구참여자는 A노인센터에서 노인자원봉사자들로 연구참여를 원하는 참여자 5인을 선정하였 고 각각 3회 거쳐 총 150분간 심층면담을 하였다. 자료분석방법으로 Bryman&Burgess(2002)가 제시한 사례 내 분석(Within case analysis), 사례간 분석(Between case analysis)으로 접근, 연구참여자들의 구술데이터 에 기반하여 스토리텔링 기법으로 자원봉사 활동을 하게 된 경위와 과정, 자원봉사 경험 속에서 우러나오 는 정서를 통해 주제를 발굴하였다. 결과/결론: 본 연구는 정체성 확인을 통한 자아존중감 향상, 사회적 역할의 재부여, 소속감에서 오는 심 리·안정감, 자기수용을 통한 자아통합 향상, 자원봉사를 통한 심리적 생산성 확대등 공통 주제를 도출하 였다. 노년의 자원봉사 활동은 노년기에 느낄 수 있는 고독, 무위 등 부정적 인식 보다 긍정적 사고와 자 기수용으로 자아 통합감을 이루어가고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 시사점: 고령사회의 사회적 위험부담을 줄이기 위해 고령노인에 대한 사회적 인식 제고 및 지지가 필요 하며 그 일환으로 노인자원봉사활동 시스템 구축 및 확대는, 지역민과 상호작용으로 인한 성공적 노화, 노인의 사회적 고립 해소에 도움을 될 수 있음이 시사된다.
