This paper attempted to help research the characteristics of traditional instruments by studying the characteristics of improved instruments. In this study, after referring to the background and process of the improved Yanbian traditional instrument, the characteristics of the Yanbian improved danso were examined through the analysis of actual music. The music used in the analysis is the author's own creative song, 〈Morning of Pyeonggangbeol〉, a baehapgwanhyeonak(composed with Western instruments and North Korean instruments orchestra) danso concerto. The five techniques of the Yanbian improved danso examined in this study are vibrato, portamento, trill, staccato, and tonguing. Comparing the performance technique of the improved danso with the traditional danso, there is a unique technique of the improved danso that does not play with the traditional danso, while the traditional danso’s techniques are difficult to express the indigenous tone of the danso with Yanbian improved danso.

이 논문은 중국 조선족의 전통악기가 중화인민공화국 건국 이후 개량되는 과정을 살피고, 개량 악기의 특성을 연구함으로써 우리 민족악기의 특성에 관한 연구에 도움이 되고자 하였다. 이번 연 구에서는 연변 전통악기가 개량된 배경과 과정을 언급한 후 본 논문의 연구대상인 연변 개량 단소의 특성을 실제 악곡의 분석을 통해 알아보았다. 분석에 사용된 악곡은 필자 본인의 창작곡인 배합관 현악 단소협주곡 <평강벌의 아침>이다. 본 연구에서 살펴본 연변 개량 단소의 기법은 농음기법, 끌 소리기법, 굴림소리기법(트릴), 끊기주법(스타카토), 혀쓰기기법(텅잉)의 다섯 가지이다. 개량 단 소의 연주법을 전통 단소의 연주법과 비교해보면, 겹혀쓰기와 같이 전통 단소로 연주하지 않는 개 량 단소만의 연주법도 있는 반면 전통 단소의 요성하기, 흘려주기, 밀어올리기와 반구멍막기 등의 연주기법은 개량 단소로 연주했을 때 단소 특유의 음색을 표현하기 어렵다.
