This paper presents a comparative analysis of international and domestic trends in religion and science research using the bibliometric method. A total of 4,370 articles from four major international academic journals (Zygon; Theology and Science; European Journal of Science and Theology; Religion, Brain and Behavior) and 163 domestic papers were collected for analysis. Based on this data, keyword analysis and cluster analysis were conducted. Keyword analysis was employed to identify the trends in research topics. The increasing variety of keywords in international literature indicates the expansion and diversification of research subjects. Additionally, the analysis categorized research topics into consistently popular, recently declining, and emerging areas of interest to examine the trends in each category. Furthermore, cluster analysis was conducted to analyze the structure of international research literature. Based on the findings of these analyses, the study summarizes the trends in international research as diversification of research topics, research subjects, and methodologies. Subsequently, through the analysis of domestic literature, a comparison was made between domestic research trends and international trends. The results indicate that domestic research tends to have a relatively narrow scope of research subject and is focused on specific scientific fields. Therefore, this study highlights the need for increased interest in diverse topics such as anthropology, climate science, ecology, and cultural evolution, and proposes the collaborative study with scientists. Lastly, the establishment of specialized academic journals on science and religion is suggested. The trend analysis conducted in this study will contribute to identifying the current state of the domestic academic community and finding directions for future development.

본 논문은 계량서지학(Biliometrics) 방법을 이용해서 종교와 과학의 해외 연구 동향과 국내 연구 동향을 비교 분석한 연구이다. 분석을 위해 해 외 주요 학술지 4종(Zygon; Theology and Science; European Journal of Science and Theology; Religion, Brain and Behavior)의 논문 4,370편 과 국내 논문 163편의 서지 정보를 수집하였다. 이 자료를 바탕으로 키워 드 분석과 클러스터 분석을 수행하였다. 먼저 키워드 분석을 통해 연구 주 제의 동향을 파악하였다. 해외 문헌의 키워드 종류의 증가는 연구 주제의 확장과 다양화를 시사한다. 또한 지속적으로 관심이 높은 주제, 최근 관심 을 잃은 주제, 최근 관심이 상승한 주제로 분류하여 각각 연구 주제의 동 향을 분석하였다. 또한 클러스터 분석을 통해 해외 연구 문헌의 구조와 대 표적인 클러스터의 성격을 분석하였다. 이상의 분석 결과를 바탕으로 해외 연구의 추세를 주제의 다양화, 연구 대상의 다양화, 방법론의 다양화로 요 약하였다. 이어서 국내 문헌의 분석을 통해 국내 연구 동향과 해외의 추세 를 비교하고 장래의 발전 방향을 제안하였다. 분석 결과, 국내 연구는 주제 의 범위가 비교적 좁고 특정 과학 분야에 치우쳐있다. 따라서 본 연구는 인 류학, 기후과학, 생태학 문화 진화 등의 다양한 주제를 향한 연구자들의 관 심을 확대할 필요성을 제기하고, 이를 위한 방안으로 과학자와의 협력 연 구의 활성화를 제안하였다. 마지막으로, 과학과 종교를 다루는 전문 학술 지의 창간을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 수행된 동향 연구는 국내 학계의 현 주소를 파악하고 발전 방향을 찾는 데 기여할 것이다.
