This paper examined the creation process of the posthumous name of Tokugawa Ienari, the eleventh shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate, specifically focusing on the role of Takatsukasa Masamichi, the kampaku (chief councilor) at the time. I analyzed not only the diaries of the court nobles but also the records of Itō Tōhō, the fifth head of the Kogidō School. Itō Tōhō was requested by Masamichi to make the posthumous name samples of Ienari and Takatsukasa Masahiro, the father of Masamichi, who died at a very similar time as Ienari. The comparison of the court nobles’ records and that of Tōhō enables us to understand what challenges arose after the shogun’s father and the kampaku’s father died at a similar time and how they were resolved. This case reveals the power of Takatsukasa Masamichi, who reigned for a long time as a kampaku in the early nineteenth century, Masamichi’s relationship with the townsman scholar of Kyoto, as well as the other court nobles’ movements in the political space that were outside of Masamichi’s control.

본고에서 검토한 소재는 1841년 에도 막부의 제11대 쇼군 도쿠가와 이에나리(德川家齊)가 사망한 후 그 원호(院號)가 선정되는 과정, 그리고 이에나리의 원호 선정과 비슷한 시점에 이뤄 진 관백(關白) 다카쓰카사 마사미치(鷹司政通)의 부친 다카쓰카사 마사히로(應司政熙)의 원호 선정 과정이다. 본고에서는 섭가(攝家)와 무가전주(武家傳奏), 스가와라(菅原) 일족 등 원호 고안에 관계된 여러 공가(公家)들의 일기와 더불어, 마사미치로부터 이에나리와 마사히로의 원호 고안을 의뢰 받았던 고의당(古義堂)의 제5대 당주 이토 도호(伊藤東峯)의 기록을 검토하였다. 이를 통해 관 계자들의 사고와 행동을 입체적으로 분석하여, 쇼군의 부친과 관백의 부친이 비슷한 시점에 사 망한 사실이 관백 개인의 개성이나 취향과 맞물리며 어떠한 문제가 발생했는지 밝힐 수 있었다. 이 사건은 19세기 전반의 조정에서 관백으로 장기간 군림하던 다카쓰카사 마사미치의 권력, 여타 공가들이 마사미치의 통제 밖에 있던 영역에서 전개한 독자적인 움직임, 그리고 쇼군가의 의례와 관련하여 조정이 가졌던 권위와 권한에 대한 막부 일각의 불신 및 견제 심리를 복합적 으로 보여주고 있다고 할 수 있다.

本稿は、1841年(天保12)死去した江戸幕府の第11代将軍徳川家斉の院号が選定される過程、 そして家斉の院号選定と同時期に行われた関白鷹司政通の父鷹司政煕の院号選定の過程を検討対 象とした。 本稿では、摂家ㆍ武家伝奏ㆍ菅原氏など、院号の考案に関わった公家たちの日記とともに、政 通から家斉ㆍ政煕の院号の考案を依頼された古義堂の五代目伊藤東峯の記録を検討した。これに より、関係者たちの思考と行動を立体的に分析し、将軍の父と関白の父が同時期に死去したことが 関白の個性や趣向とも絡み、どのような問題が発生したかを明らかにすることができた。 この事例は、19世紀前半の朝廷で関白として長く君臨した鷹司政通の権力、その政通の統制か ら離れた領域で他の公家たちが展開した独自の動き、更には、将軍家の儀礼に関連して朝廷がもっ た権威ㆍ権限に対する幕府関係者一部の不信と牽制の動きを複合的に示すものといえる。
