A Study on Effective Active Ingredients of Gleditsia Japonica Fruit Extracts Using the Hydrothermal Extraction

This study studied which ingredients are effective in antioxidant, antibacterial, and elderly odor removal through the analysis of the ingredients of the Gleditsia japonica Fruit. In order to confirm the possibility of cosmetic materials for the Gleditsia japonica Fruit, hydrothermal extraction was first extracted with an ethanol content of 30%, 50%, and 70%. In addition, GC-MS active ingredient analysis, LC-MS polyphenol and flavonoid content analysis, antioxidant efficacy, elderly odor, and antibacterial efficacy evaluation were conducted for each extract. As a result of color measurement, it was confirmed that the brightness (L*), redness (a*), and yellowness (b*) tend to decrease as the ethanol content increases. This is predicted to be due to the fact that the higher the ethanol concentration, the more diverse and many double-coupled organic compound (color group) active ingredients were extracted. In addition, as a result of GC-MS component analysis, it was confirmed that Tridecane, an antioxidant active ingredient, and Eugenol, an anti-oxidant odor and antibacterial active ingredient, were detected higher as the ethanol content increased. The antioxidant experiment of the Gleditsia japonica Fruit extract was lower than that of the positive control, Ascorbic acid, but the antioxidant and antibacterial effects tended to increase as the ethanol content increased.
