In the study of Bangudae Petroglyphs, ritual relevance is an important research topic, which has been noted since their discovery. To explain the relationship between petroglyphs and rituals, it is necessary to read the expression and examine the meaning they symbolize, considering the social culture of the time. In addition, to study the religious and cultural activities known as rituals, not only their purpose and content, but also the access to specific ceremonial spaces becomes important. This study employed a prehistoricshamanistic interpretation of the Bangudae Petroglyphs with the Shaman icon, starting from interpreting the schematized animal expression appearing in the last layer of the Bangudae Petroglyphs as a sacred animal. Specifically, the semantic relationship between the Bangudae Petroglyphs and the rock was examined, paying attention to the recently discovered tightening marks of cracks.

반구대암각화 연구에 있어서 의례 관련성은 발견 초기부터 주목되어온 연구주 제이다. 반구대암각화의 의례성을 설명하기 위해서는 표현물을 판독하고 그것이 상징하는 의미를 제작 당시의 사회상에 비추어 고찰하는 작업이 필요하다. 또한 의례라고 하는 인간 사회의 종교․문화적 행위를 연구하기 위해서는 의례의 목적 및 내용뿐만 아니라 특정한 의례적 공간에 대한 접근도 중요한 주제가 된다. 본고 에서는 반구대암각화의 표현물 가운데 마지막 제작층에서 나타나는 도식화된 동 물 표현물을 샤먼의 속성을 내포한 신성동물(神聖動物)로 해석하는 관점에서 출발 하여 샤먼도상과 함께 반구대암각화에 대한 선사 샤머니즘적 해석을 시도하였다. 특히 반구대암각화 바위틈의 타날흔에 주목하여 반구대암각화 표현물과 바위 자 체의 의미론적 관계성을 고찰하였다.
