This study analyzed the agricultural expression in Saibara, an ancient Japanese folk song, from the perspective of comparative culture. Particularly paying attention to “Yamashiro” of the Ryo part, the author attempted to decipher its meaning by examining the lyrics in connection with the culture of Korean peninsula immigrants. First, it was found that the Goma village, the setting of “Yamashiro,” is a settlement of people of Goguryeo descent. Second, through the mention of cucurbit farming, it can be assumed that planting of oriental melon was developed in Goma. Third, the process of marriage between a Goguryeo descent and native Japanese can be imagined. In short, “Yamashiro” implicitly shows the lifestyle of settlers through farming and marriage in Goma, located near Kyoto, the center during the ancient times. In conclusion, the traces of the culture of arrivals such as fossils in ancient songs show that Japanese culture has been established at various levels of cultural access.

본고는 일본의 고대가요 사이바라에 나타난 농경 표현을 비교문화적 관점에서 파악한 논고이다. 특히 려곡 ‘야마시로’에 주목하여 도래인 문화를 중심으로 가사 를 고찰하여 그 의미를 해독하고자 했다. 그 결과 첫째, ‘야마시로’는 고구려계 도 래인들의 정착지인 고마 마을을 배경으로 하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 박과의 농작물에 대한 언급을 통해 고마에서는 참외 농사가 발달했음을 추측할 수 있다. 셋째, 도래인과 일본인 사이의 혼인을 통한 결합 과정에 대해 상상할 수 있다. 이 처럼 ‘야마시로’에는 고대의 중심지 교토 부근 고마에 자리잡은 도래인의 농경과 혼인을 통한 정착이라는 생활상이 암시적으로 각인되어 있다. 고대가요에 화석처 럼 남은 도래인 문화의 흔적은 일본문화가 다양한 층위의 문화접변 위에서 성립하 고 있음을 보여준다고 하겠다.
