This paper is concerned with how to analyze and preach to a postmodern audience on the issue of suffering. Today's generation is the first age where standards and formality are destroyed, individual feelings are valued, and there is an "absolute absence of God". The focus is on audiences who are asking a variety of questions about the problem of suffering, whether direct or indirect, asking the question: if God is good, why does he allow suffering in the world? This question is not a recent one. It's an ancient question. In particular, it is a logic discussed among the Stoic-Epicurean school of thought, which was developed and refined by Leibniz in the 17th century, when it was first used under the name of theodicy. It is from this theodicy that I believe we need to approach the question of why God allows suffering in the world if he is good. I will therefore limit myself to the theodicy to answer this question. I will begin by examining what we mean by suffering and the various attempts to understand it. In particular, we will analyze and interpret the various attempts to understand suffering, recognizing that the question "If God is good, why does he allow suffering in the world?" is rooted in theism. While there are many ways to look at the concept of theocracy, this paper will focus on the concept of theocracy as it originated in the Stoic-Epicurean school, not the biblical concept of theocracy, in order to find its flaws and ultimately reveal what it is trying to represent. And it is not merely a philosophical, linguistic, and logical analysis, but a biblical approach to the problem of suffering that will help audiences who are faced with the reality of suffering. The approach will utilize Tim Keller's "Six Practical Principles" for reaching negative-minded audiences and will use his meta-sermon outline to guide the sermon. It is my hope that this study and sermon will be an instrument of grace that will bring great comfort and strength to audiences who are faced with the problem of suffering as it relates to a good God who poses difficult questions.

이 논문은 포스트모더니즘 시대를 살아가는 청중들의 고통의 문제를 어떻게 분 석하고 설교해야 하는지에 관심을 두었다. 오늘의 세대는 기준과 형식이 파괴되고, 개인 의 감정이 중요시되며, ‘절대적인 신이 부재한’ 초유의 시대이다. 이런 시대에 하나님이 선하다면 왜 세상에 고통을 허락하시는가? 라는 질문을 던지며 직접이든 간접이든 고통 의 문제에 다양한 의문을 던지는 청중에게 초점을 두었다. 이 같은 질문은 최근에 나타난 것은 아니다. 예로부터 지속된 질문이기도 하다. 특히 스토아-에피쿠로스 학파 사이에서 논의된 논리인데, 이것이 17세기 라이프니츠에 의해 신정론이란 이름으로 처음 사용되면 서, 발전되고 정리되었다. 따라서 하나님이 선하다면 왜 세상에 고통을 허락하시는가에 질문을 가진 청중을 설득하기 위해 접근하려면 이 신정론으로부터 출발해야 한다고 본다. 그래서 필자는 이 문제를 풀어보기 위해 신정론에 제한하여 답을 찾아가는 과정을 가져 보려고 한다. 먼저는 고통의 의미가 무엇인지, 그리고 고통을 이해하려는 다양한 시도가 어땠는지 살펴보려고 한다. 특히 고통을 이해하려는 다양한 시도 중에 “하나님이 선하다 면 왜 세상에 고통을 허락하시는가”라는 질문이 신정론에 뿌리를 두었음을 알고 이 이론 을 중심으로 분석하고 해석하려고 한다. 신정론 개념을 여러 가지로 살펴볼 수 있지만, 본 논고에서는 성경적인 신정론의 개념이 아닌 과거 스토아-에피쿠로스 학파에서 시작한 신정론의 개념에서 그 허점을 찾고 궁극적으로 나타내려는 것이 무엇인지를 밝혀내려고 한다. 그리고 이 해석을 단순히 철학적이고 언어 논리적인 분석에만 그치지 않고, 고통이 라는 실존에 처해 있는 청중이 이 문제를 성경적으로 어떻게 접근해야 하는지 도움을 주 고자 한다. 그 접근 방식은 팀 켈러가 부정적인 사고를 가진 청중에게 다가가기 위해 정 리한 “여섯 가지 실천 원리”를 활용하고, 그가 제시한 메타 설교개요를 통해 설교문을 작 성하고자 한다. 난해한 질문이 되는 선하신 하나님과 연결한 고통의 문제에 놓여 있는 청중들에게, 이 연구와 설교가 큰 위로와 힘을 주는 은혜의 도구가 되기를 소망해 본다.
