The purpose of this study is as follows. First, it is to find out what kind of correlation the family relationship of Sakhalin Koreans has with the emotional driving force of transnational care. Second, it is to find the economic driving force of transnational care in the family ties of Koreans who returned to Sakhalin as permanent residents. Third, it is to investigate in-depth the phenomenon of ‘acting as children’, which Sakhalin Korean children practice to take care of their elderly parents, and ‘adult child care’, in which elderly parents help their children in need, to examine the care cycle process between generations from a transnational perspective. To this end, 24 research participants were recruited from the hometown of Ansan, Sakhalin, a hometown for returning Koreans from Yeongju, and data were collected through in-depth interviews. As a result of analyzing the collected data, it was found that the driving force of transnational care is an emotional driving force and an economic driving force. Sakhalin Koreans, who experienced countless times the pain of family separation in other countries, strengthened family relationships with a defensive survival strategy that allowed them to survive in other countries for the ultimate purpose of helping their elderly parents. In other words, it was found that they are willing to cross borders for their elderly parents suffering from old age by considering ‘family ties’, which means ‘family members should help each other in difficult and difficult times’, as the most precious value in family relationships.

이 연구의 목적은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사할린 한인들의 가족관계가 초국적 돌봄 의 정서적 원동력과 어떠한 상관관계를 갖게 되는지를 알아본다. 둘째, 사할린 영 주귀국 동포들의 가족 유대에서 초국적 돌봄의 경제적 원동력을 찾아낸다. 셋째, 사할린동포 자녀들이 노부모를 돌보기 위해 실천하고 있는 ‘자식 노릇’과 노부모 가 어려운 자녀를 돕는 ‘성인 자녀 돌봄’ 현상을 심도 있게 규명하여 초국적 시각에 서 세대 간 돌봄 순환과정을 알아본다. 이를 위해 안산 고향마을 사할린 영주귀국 동포 집거지에서 24명의 연구 참여자를 모집하고 심층 인터뷰를 통해 자료를 수 집하였다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과, 초국적 돌봄의 원동력은 정서적 원동력과 경제적 원동력이 작동하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 나아가 사할린 동포의 자녀들이 노부모를 수발하는 궁극적인 목적은, 타국에서 가족이산(家族離散)을 수없이 체 험했던 사할린 한인동포들은 타국에서 자신들의 방어적 생존전략으로 가족관계 를 강화시키면서 강력한 가족 유대를 형성하게 되었다. 즉 ‘어렵고 힘든 가족을 가 족들이 서로 돕고 살아야 한다.’는 ‘가족유대’를 가족관계에서 가장 소중한 가치로 간주함으로서 노환으로 고통 받는 노부모를 위해 기꺼이 국경을 넘나들고 있는 것 으로 나타났다.
