Recently, The awareness of autistic traits in Korea seems to have ‘raised’. But the quality of life of Korean autistics is quietly low. With notice of the growth of the japyejeog ('autistic') language in Korean speakers, the study reviewed the meaning construction process of japye (self-close) and japyejeog usage in Korea year from 2019 to 2021. After analysing ‘japyejeog’ usage in the media, the results showed that japyejeog has recently been used in Korean society to denigrate individuals and groups rather than speak to autistic people. However, outside of Korea, autistic people enjoy neurodiversity and autistic culture: which allows entering higher education and professional careers without being bound by linguistic stigma. For this reason, this paper proposes the possibility that persons are given japyejeog ‘names’ through zhengming (正名, rectification of names): it would create discrimination and stigma through interpellation and anchoring. Recently, CRPD recommended that Korea eliminate hate expressions toward autistic persons. Therefore, Korea should make alternative motions that include Korean neurodivergent persons in its society.

최근 특정 드라마를 계기로 자폐특성 인식이 ‘개선’된 것처럼 보이나 자폐인의 삶의 질은 여전히 낮다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 간극의 이유로 최근 ‘자폐적’ 용어의 사용 증 가에 주목하고 ‘자폐’의 의미 형성과정 및 현재 ‘자폐적’ 언어 사용현황을 파악하였다. ‘자폐’(⾃閉)는 일본 정신의학자들에 의해 1937년 정립되었다. 한국어에서는 일제강 점기에 문자적 의미로 쓰이다 1970년대 국내 정신의학자들이 조현병과 결부된 부정적 이미지를 부가한 것이 현재까지 이르는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 2019년부터 3년간 미디 어의 ‘자폐적’ 용례를 분석한 결과, 한국사회에서 최근 ‘자폐적’이 자폐인을 조명하기 보 다 개인이나 집단을 깎아내리는데 활용되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 현상의 이유로 본 논고는 정명을 통해 개인에게 ‘이름’이 부여되고, 이 과정에 서 호명과 정박을 통해 차별이 일어나고 낙인이 형성될 가능성을 제안하였다. 그러나 해외에서는 신경다양성과 자폐문화로 인한 문화다양성이 긍정적으로 평가되면서 자폐 인들이 언어적 낙인에 얽매이지 않고 고등교육 및 전문직에 진출할 수 있었다. 최근 대 한민국의 CPRD 2․3차 최종견해에서 자폐인 대상 혐오표현의 방지가 권고된 만큼 자폐 인과 신경다양인의 사회참여를 위해 ‘자폐적’ 언어 사용을 금지하는 등 대안의 필요성이 제시되었다.
