This study attempted to examine the aspects of the early Joseon period’s poems on history. It was pointed out several times in previous studies that a number of projections were created in the early Joseon Dynasty, but no detailed exploration of the genre of “the poems on history” at the time was conducted. The poems on history is a work based on history, but just because it is based on history, it cannot be called the poems on history. In addition, since the definition of genre has changed according to the times and writers, it is necessary to inductively guess the standards from the works of writers at the time to examine the characteristics of the poems on history in the early Joseon Dynasty. Through the classification of 『梅月堂集』 and 『軌範』, and the widely read Chéng mĭnzhèng’s 『詠史絶句』 at the time, this paper revealed that there was a “褒貶意識” at the base of the the poems on history at that time. In addition, the period, characters, forms, and creative motivations dealt with in the works were examined in the collection of literary men active in the late 15th and early 16th centuries, and finally, the characteristics and examples of the works were divided into two categories: “Loyalty and 處出” and “Perspective on women”.

본 연구는 朝鮮前期詠史詩의 양상을 살피고자 하였다. 조선 전기에 영사시가 다수 창작된 것은 선행연구에서 수차례 지적되었으나, 당시의 ‘영사’라는 장르에 대한 자세한 탐구는 이루어지지 않았다. 영사시는 역사를 소재로 쓴 작품이지만, 역사를 소재로 삼는다고 해서 ‘영사시’라고 할 수는 없다. 또한 장르에 대한 정의가 시대와 문인에 따라 달라졌기 때문에, 조선 전기 영사시의 특징을 살피려면 당시 문인들의 저작에서 그 기준을 귀납적으로 추측해야 한다. 본고는 『梅月堂集』 과 『風騷軌範』의 분류와 당시 널리 읽힌 程敏政의 『詠史絶句』 등을 통해 당시 영사시의 근저에 ‘褒貶意識’이 있었음을 밝혔다. 또 15세기 말 ∼16세기 초반 활동한 문인들의 문집에서 영사시를 살펴 작품에서 다룬 시기와 인물, 작품의 형식과 창작 동기를 살폈고, 마지막으로 작품의 특징과 사례를 ‘忠義와 出處’, ‘여성의 조명’ 두 가지로 나누어 살폈다.
