The current study examines the relationship between alcohol consumption and sex offenses in the context of sex offender typology. Data on 866 sex offenders on the gps monitoring program were analyzed to investigate whether the alcohol consumption at the time of the offense predicts the membership of the latent classes. The main results of the study are as follows. First, the results of latent class analysis suggested a four-class model : class-1(rapists against minors), class-2(habitual indecent assaulters), class-3(stranger rapists who trespass), class-4(rapists against adult women at night). Second, there was a significant relationship between the alcohol consumption variable and group membership. More specifically, the alcohol consumption variable was able to successfully differentiate between class-4 and other groups, but failed to predict the membership among the other groups. Lastly, as compared to other group memberships, sex offenders classified as class-4 were shown to recidiviate significantly more on a variety of measures. Based on the above results, the implications of the study were derived and suggestions for future studies were made.

본 연구는 알콜 섭취와 성범죄 발생간의 관계를 성범죄자 하 위유형론의 관점에서 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 전자발찌 부착 성범 죄자 866명을 상대로 성범죄 당시 알콜 섭취가 성범죄자의 하위 유형 분류에 갖는 영향력과 개별 유형이 재범에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 잠재계층 분석(LCA) 결과 분석대상 성범죄자는 4개의 잠재계층으로 분류되었다: 제1 유형(미성년강간범), 제2유형(상습추행범), 제3유형(비면식침입 강간범), 제4유형(성인상대야간강간범). 둘째, ‘범행당시 알콜사 용’ 변수는 각 하위유형간 분류에 있어서 오직 제4유형의 성범죄 자만을 적절히 분류했다. 셋째, 성범죄자 하위유형과 향후 재범 행동간 관계에 있어서는 알콜 사용과 관계 깊은 제4유형 성범죄 자가 모든 유형의 재범행동에 있어서 유의미하게 재범을 더 한 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과를 바탕으로 연구의 함의를 도 출하고 제언을 하였다.
