In this research, we surveyed elementary school teachers' perceptions of the mandatory coding education in elementary schools according to the announcement of the Ministry of Education's comprehensive plan for digital human resource development and the finalization of the 2022 revised elementary and secondary curriculum. We conducted a cross-analysis of teachers' gender, teaching experience, grade level in the most recent five years, and coding level. We concluded the following results. First, teachers' perception of mandatory coding education was more favorable, but the percentage of disagreement increased as their teaching experience increased. Second, teachers' perception of the grade level to start coding education was most appropriate to begin in grades 5 and 6. Third, teachers' perception of the ideal number of hours of information education per year is 17 hours. Before the new curriculum is introduced, it is recommended that schools be assisted in improving their perceptions in response to the findings of this study.

본 연구에서는 교육부의 디지털 인재양성 종합방안 발표 및 2022 개정 초·중등 교육과정 확정에 따른 초등학교 코딩교육 필수화에 대해 초등학교 교사를 대상으로 인식조사를 실시하였다. 교사의 성별, 교직경력별, 최근 5개년 담당 학년군별, 코딩 수준별 교차분석을 실시하여 다음과 같은 시사점을 도출하였다. 첫째, 코딩교육 필수화에 대 한 교사들의 인식은 찬성 비율이 더 높았지만, 교직경력이 높아질수록 반대 비율이 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 코딩교육 시작 학년군에 대한 교사들의 인식은 5~6학년군부터 도입되는 것이 가장 적절한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 교사들은 정보교육 연간 운영 적정 시수에 대해 현행 연 17시간을 유지하는 것이 가장 적절하다고 응답하였다. 새로운 교육 과정이 도입되기 전 본 연구 결과에서 나타난 교사들의 의견을 고려하여 초등학교 코딩교육 필수화에 대한 인식 개선을 위해 연구 결과와 관련한 일선학교 지원이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.
