Currently, the term new normal stands for the new standard originated by COVID-19 pandemic. Pandemic have a significant impact on our life. On top of that, it generated the term ‘contact’ and ‘non-contact’, which could make the transition from ‘analogue’ that means direct contact to interact with to ‘digital era’ connecting to others with contact-free. A new standard was born. This could carry over into the performing arts, which resulted in new and advanced type of performing art, so-called non-contact performance with high technology. It has been going through the presence and audience got an opportunity to watch not only contact, general format of performance, but also non-contact performance easily, recognizing the possibility of new trend of performing arts. Corona pandemic is now heading to endemic. Distancing rules came to an end and wearing mask is not mandatory. Thus, performing arts are becoming revitalized and the performance market is being recovery phase. It is true that COVID 19 is not an obstacle any longer to performance arts. However, we should remember that the mankind has been hurt by fatal viruses and Corona virus in not an exception. Experts warn that these uncontrollable situations could happen again at any time. This study analyzed cases of what challenges the performing artists have faced and how they could win through the adversities during COVID-19 outbreak, identified how performing art industry and policy have been changed with multilateral standpoint, and drew the directionality for performing arts to go forward for the future. With this study, the performing arts going into the future society will make way to its future-oriented performing industry by reconfirming and reestablishing the past.

현재 뉴노멀이라는 용어는 코로나 팬데믹으로 인해 생겨난 새로운 기준을 뜻하는 말로 사용되고 있 다. 코로나는 우리의 생활에 많은 영향을 끼쳤다. 무엇보다 대면과 비대면이라는 용어가 생겨나게 되었 는데 이는 직접적 접촉으로만 살아왔던 아날로그 시대에서 비접촉으로도 가능한 디지털 시대로의 전환 이 일어났다고 볼 수 있다. 새로운 기준이 생겨난 것이다. 이는 공연예술계에도 영향을 미치며 비대면 공 연이라는 형태가 생겨났으며, 첨단 기술과의 융합으로 발전적 형태의 공연을 시도하게 되었다. 코로나가 완화되는 지금의 시점에도 지속되고 있으며, 이제는 일반적 공연형태인 대면 공연뿐 아니라 비대면 공연 도 가능한 것으로 인지하게 되었고, 관객들도 비대면 공연을 쉽게 접할 수 있는 기회들이 생겨나기 시작 했다. 코로나는 이제 엔데믹을 향해 가고 있다. 거리두기는 사라졌고 마스크 착용은 의무에서 권고로 바뀌었다. 이에 따라 공연계도 다시 활성화되고 있으며, 공연시장도 점차 회복세를 보이고 있다. 이제는 코 로나 감염으로 인해 공연을 못 하게 되는 경우가 다소 줄어든 것이 사실이다. 그러나 우리는 잊지 말아 야 한다. 과거 인류는 치명적인 바이러스들로 인해 심각한 타격을 입었고, 이는 코로나와도 연결되어 있 음을 말이다. 전문가들은 앞으로도 충분히 이러한 불가항력적인 상황이 생길 수 있음을 경고하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 코로나가 창궐하였던 시기에 공연 예술인들은 실제로 어떤 어려움을 겪었으며 어떻게 극 복하였는지에 대한 사례를 분석하고, 공연예술산업과 정책이 어떻게 변화되어 왔는지를 다각적 관점에 서 확인하여 앞으로 공연예술계가 나가야 할 방향성을 도출하였다. 본 연구가 앞으로 다가올 미래사회로 진입하고 있는 예술계를 위해 과거를 재확인하고 재정립하여 미래 지향적인 공연예술계의 발전에 이바 지하기를 바란다.
