This study analyzes the effects of the professional volleyball club manager's experience and tenure on team performance in Korean professional volleyball league. According to the results of the analyses, the coaches’ experience and tenure in the men's V-League did not have significant effects on the organizational performance. However, in the women's V-League, the coaches’ tenure has negative impacts on the club's performance. As results of examining the moderating effects of star players’ influences, it was found that the influences of star players weakened the positive relationship between coaches’ tenure and organizational performance in the men's V-League. However, in the women’s league, the negative relationship between coaches’ tenure and organizational performance was found to be mitigated by star players. These results implies that the influence of a star player on the entire club can be greater than that of coach in women’s league than men’s league. The results of this study provide strategic implications in that they suggest the possibility that the result of the interaction of two factors that are expected to have a positive effect on team performance can be rather negative.

본 연구는 국내 프로배구 리그를 대상으로 구단 감독의 경험 및 재임기간이 팀 성적에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 있다. 또한 이 과정에서 스타 선수의 조절효과를 살펴봄으로써 팀의 성과를 강화하기 위한 전략적 시사점을 도출하고 있다. 분석 결과에 의하면 남자 V-리그에서 감독의 경험과 재임기간은 조직의 성과에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으 로 나타났다. 하지만 여자 V-리그에서는 감독의 재임기간이 구단의 성과에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 스타 선수 영향력의 조절효과를 살펴본 결과에 의하면 남자 V-리그에서 감독의 재임기간과 조직성과 간의 긍정적인 관계를 스타 선수의 영향력 이 약화시킨다는 결과를 도출할 수 있었지만 여자 V-리그에서는 감독의 재임기간과 조직 성과와의 부정적인 관계를 스타 선수가 완화하는 것으로 나타났다. 여자 리그에서는 남자 리그에 비해 스타 선수가 구단 전체에 미치는 영향력이 감독보다 더 클 수 있다는 결과라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 팀 성적에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상되는 두 요인이 상호작용한 결과가 오히려 부정적일 수 있다는 가능성을 제시하고 있다는 점에서 전략적 인 측면에서 시사점을 제공해주고 있다.
